I'm just wondering if all the facts that subaru.ca gives is right about engines are fully true. http://www.subaru.ca/assets/media/en-ca/awd/awd.htm

Can you give me more information on inline engine cons, pros.
Also how is skyline engine placed is it directly inline with the transmission

They seem to bend the truth a bit, the Subaru engine and ideal in automotive design, yeah right...

Flat fours are not perfectly balanced, you will need a flat six for that.

A flat four is short, low and wide. The center of gravity will be lowered but we also have to place the engine very long forward so the wide engine will fit in the engine bay. This creates a lot off mass forward and on the sides on the car and that is a downside.

If we take a look on the skyline drivetrain instead we will found that the engine is placed inline with the gearbox, the front differential is placed under the engine. This will give a higher center of gravity but the weight will be in the center of the car and the weight distibution front/rear will be better.
