http://www.nissan-engine-parts.com/240_sx_001-1990-cooling_system-engineparts.html

i dont noe if its good or not though. and i would have to install it myself is that very hard??? and he also said i need a valve cover gasket which i dont noe wut it is. but he said it would cost 240$! Is he jus trying to rip me off or do i really need this and is it this price?

thanx

that mechanic sounds a little shady, I would go elsewhere.

IF your car is leaking, and he says your water pump is messed up and you need a new one, or he says you can get three new hoses to cure it also, then thats a lie there. If the pump is broken it needs to be replaced. If the hoses are cut or leaking then they need to be replaced, one or the other isn't going to cure the problem, just sounds fishy.

is your valve cover leaking or something? try tightening down the fasteners and check if they are all fully tightened.

I would take your car to another shop and have them check out your water pump and the cooling hoses, and see what they say.

They say they don't leak as much, withstand higher temps, last longer thens tock hoses so its a good modification. Id get some of those shiny ones

:naughty:

the best thing is that it works the best on custom applications, like cross chassis swaps ans the stock radiator. No need to find something to fit, just put a set of these on(universal kit)

those are a little on the ricer/high performance wanna-be side for me..

IF you want some, the best source for them is Summit racing.

If i wer going to use anything other than OEM I'd go to the slightly better aftermarket GATES brand, then to Samco (which we all know isn't cheap, or flexible)

there are other, less flashy flexible water hoses out there.

if you try to tighten your bolts on your valve cover to seal the leak (which is most likely the problem), DON"T tighten them too hard. you are tightening the bolt into aluminum and it will strip very easily. they only need to be snug. also, go here for OEM parts- www.alloemautoparts.com

water pumps are easy to replace. one important thing- DO NOT do what I did and use cheap liquid gasket to seal it. go to the dealer and buy Nissan silicone gasket. you will regret using the autozone stuff. i sealed my oil pan, lower and upper front cover, water pump, and thermostat with the cheap shit and its all leaking. now i have to go and take everything off again and reseal it. and believe me, the oil pan is a bitch.

anyway, back to your waterpump question. ok, you need to
1.)drain coolant (this sucks. as soon as you open the plug, it SHOOTS out all over everything and you can only catch half of it with a funnel)
2.)remove intake tube
3.)remove upper and lower radiator hose
4.)remove fan shroud- upper and lower
5.)remove electric fan (i think this only came with the A/C option
6.)remove mechanical fan
7.)remove P/S belt
8.)remove waterpump
9.)clean off mating surface with a brush first, then a rag. wipe it CLEAN.
10.)take a dry run, practicing mating the pump with the cam sprocket cover without touching the mating surface on the pump to anything but the mating surface on the front cover
10.)apply gasket to water pump mating surface and front cover mating surface.
11.) bolt waterpump into place and reassemble everything you removed

IMPORTANT- organize your bolts and lable them as you remove them, this will be invaluble when you're re-assembling everything. i can't stress this enough! learn from my mistake.

i believe this is all there is to it, but since i just pulled this from my memory, i might have missed something. overall, it is an easy install. lemme know if you have any questions

I use GE Silicone, Clear Type I as a gasket sealer in many transmissions(auto and manuals)
