180sx with s15 half cut PROGRESS!spoolin12 09-30-2003, 12:52 AM Well i havnt seen it done before so i thought i would give it a try. I went and got the Fujimi rps13 and s15! http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/newcamera/modelcars/180s15-1.jpg I will take the 180sx front and put it on the s15 and the s15 front and put it on the 180sx. http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/newcamera/modelcars/180s15-2.jpg Cars are pretty similar width wise: http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/newcamera/modelcars/180s15-3.jpg I will probably be them black or blue. http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/newcamera/modelcars/180s15.jpg http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au/uk/stock/img/2750.jpg Will keep you updated! joecwlaw 09-30-2003, 01:03 AM nice ref. site...... looking forward to the finishing. ozstrider 09-30-2003, 01:45 AM Awesome project... But you'll have to adjust your lines...cos one car is gonna have 2 windscreen cleaner water jet things, and one car isnt gonna have any...or you could just shave them off...for that nice clean look... Sebstar 09-30-2003, 02:54 AM god that front bar is ugly! :pukes: hm, nice. sil20/80 :sunglasse flyonthewall 09-30-2003, 05:52 AM I think that cutting further forward, perhaps straight down the middle of the front wheel arches would be a better approach. Surely you will want to keep as much of the front end of the 180 as poss to retain its character and lines. my 2c njh 09-30-2003, 07:25 AM Looking forward to see more progress of it. Forhod 09-30-2003, 08:17 AM Looks like a pretty cool project, love to see more progress on them. EMAXX 09-30-2003, 09:01 AM Looks like a cool project. I agree with flyonthewall though. You might want to cut a bit farther down. Thats just what I'm thinking. You can do whatever you want, just keep us posted. z33guy 09-30-2003, 09:43 AM im liking the look of this project, nissans= :naughty: fujimituner235 09-30-2003, 12:54 PM havent seen it done B4? her you go S13 with S15 (http://www.mechahawaii.com/files/gallery/Roy/Roy180sx2.jpg) S13 with S15 2 (http://www.mechahawaii.com/files/gallery/Roy/ROY180sx.jpg) Midnight Racer 09-30-2003, 02:02 PM Sounds like a great project. Can't wait to see some progress. GTmike400 10-01-2003, 08:01 PM Are you doing a truck conversion on the RPS? I guess you'd call it a 180-15? 1580 I do believe. It goes back to front if I can recall. But damn, the lines of that just flow so friggen nice. I have never seen a 180 front on an S15. Looks so good. spoolin12 10-01-2003, 10:31 PM Today i did a bit of cutting! lol. Used a saw that i picked up from my LHS: http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/JD%20Models/Index/Pictures/Images/s15.180pro/saw.jpg I Decided to cut the 180sx first so i cut on the red line: http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/JD%20Models/Index/Pictures/Images/s15.180pro/cutred.jpg First i just scored the surface: http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/JD%20Models/Index/Pictures/Images/s15.180pro/lightcut.jpg Once i cut all the way through the 180SX i took the front end and placed it over the S15: http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/JD%20Models/Index/Pictures/Images/s15.180pro/180over.jpg The used a marker to mark were i will cut: http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/JD%20Models/Index/Pictures/Images/s15.180pro/marker.jpg I was very happy to find the cars mached almost perfect! http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/JD%20Models/Index/Pictures/Images/s15.180pro/match.jpg Next step will to be to glue the car's together and start the putty Process! Here are the 2 cars matched up! http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/JD%20Models/Index/Pictures/Images/s15.180pro/180s15.jpg http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/JD%20Models/Index/Pictures/Images/s15.180pro/s15180.jpg http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/JD%20Models/Index/Pictures/Images/s15.180pro/both.jpg what do you guys think so far? :) EMAXX 10-01-2003, 10:36 PM That looks awesome. I used it on my Purgeot and was pretty dissapointed........it shrinks a whole lot. Any sugestions would be appreciated! cepat 10-02-2003, 05:42 AM I think do them both in candy apple red. :D Kazama style. :D http://www.kazamaauto.co.jp/demo_car/sam180.jpg http://www.kazamaauto.co.jp/demo_car/sam_rk15.jpg http://www.kazamaauto.co.jp/demo_car/sam14_55.jpg spoolin12 10-02-2003, 05:55 AM mmmm.....Thats could look great. once i prime them i think it will be alot easer! Sigmaman 10-02-2003, 06:02 AM Their lookin' mighty fine spoolin. Sebstar 10-02-2003, 08:31 AM black with red and white decals. those pics that someone posted before of that blac s15 with 180sx front were amazing. I'm not sure anyone has touched that conversion yet. Congrats on being the first, it looks like they are both going to be awesome. Best of luck on the two. spoolin12 10-03-2003, 04:13 AM Quick update! I glued the two cars today (was out all day so didnt have time to putty) Im thinking of filling the body line like shown below: (putty in red circle) http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/JD%20Models/Index/Pictures/Images/s15.180pro/puttyhere%5d.jpg http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/JD%20Models/Index/Pictures/Images/s15.180pro/s15frontglued.jpg For my 4th model ever im realy happy! I think im in this hobby for a while! :evillol: TougeMonkey 10-03-2003, 11:28 AM 1580 I do believe. It goes back to front if I can recall. But damn, the lines of that just flow so friggen nice. I have never seen a 180 front on an S15. Looks so good. It goes from front to back. A 1580 is a 180 with S15 front. Just like a Sil-Eighty is a 180 with a silvia (S13) front. 515 10-03-2003, 11:43 AM wow... good work so far.. keep it up.. dunno if the body would fit just right Go with red.. looks stunning with big wheels, and lowered Sigmaman 10-03-2003, 06:00 PM Thats only your 4th model???????????????? spoolin12 10-03-2003, 06:30 PM It goes from front to back. A 1580 is a 180 with S15 front. Just like a Sil-Eighty is a 180 with a silvia (S13) front. Its called a Onevia (i know its called that with a s13 back and 180 front) So i guess they are both silvia's. Sigmaman: Technically its my 3rd seeing i havnt finished my Peugeot or Porsche. SonyMobile 10-03-2003, 06:34 PM Lookin good so far man, are you making the S15 front on 180sx back into a truck? for colors, my suggestions are Purple <some cars look pretty sweet in purple! Pink <Yashio Factory style ( I think sumbody said that already) Green <like your peugeot is Metallic Blue Gold <that would look sweet with black decals or Gunmetal Sigmaman 10-03-2003, 11:14 PM They,re mighty fine models man, whether they,re your 4th or 40th.Don,t let anybody tell you your good for a newbe, your good!!!!!!!I know people that have been building for years that don,t build that well. Moey 10-04-2003, 01:13 AM Lookin Awesome Spoolin, hurry up and get yur ass into gear, i wanna see some more progress on these beasts. I will keep you guys updated! Im thinking for the S15rear and 180 front to be red with a black roof and bonnet! Whats do you guys think? No im not making it into a ute. cepat 10-04-2003, 07:24 AM I think do them the same colour. To have that jap look with more then one car ina group the same colour. I would prefer orange with black roof. Msport/Kstyle style. :D Or candy apple red ;) :D spoolin12 10-04-2003, 07:30 AM LOL Yeah i would have done it orange but Subway is doing his orange with a black roof and bonet :( spoolin12 10-04-2003, 08:34 PM Putty done on the Onevia! Im just playing with wheel ideas here....they are workmeister rims that i made deep dish in the rear. http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/JD%20Models/Index/Pictures/Images/s15.180pro/puttydone.jpg http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/JD%20Models/Index/Pictures/Images/s15.180pro/puttydone2.jpg Here is a close up of the rear wheel. http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/JD%20Models/Index/Pictures/Images/s15.180pro/deepwheel.jpg I am installing the popup lights in the front of the 180 and giving it tht "sleepy" drift look. The 180rear S15 front is comming along well but i missed a couple of places with the putty so i will re putty today! I still have a spare S15, tamiya S13 and a fujimi sil80 :D Will keep you guys updated! :) spoolin12 10-05-2003, 06:24 AM Ok Another update! Cutting the lights out of the 180front end: http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/JD%20Models/Index/Pictures/Images/s15.180pro/lightspop.jpg Will be installing these lights but will be running them as if they are half closed for the "sleepy" drift look. http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/JD%20Models/Index/Pictures/Images/s15.180pro/popup.jpg chrismcgee 10-05-2003, 06:36 AM looking good dude, cant wait to see the other build! might try something like your lights on one of my rx7's. keep it up :evillol: ImportBuilder 10-05-2003, 09:45 PM nice work, man. whoever said practive makes perfect obviously hadnt seen ne of ur stuff b4 they said it. Im into the whole drift thing so you will probably be seeing a whole lot of drift cars from me! JG: There is a tutorial by me in the modeling section (do a search under my name) Ok primed both cars today! I love priming.....seeing the car all scratched up and ugly looking and then getting that neat clean finish without one stuff up! SpoonMan Dos 10-06-2003, 08:17 AM They both look great, can't wait to see them completed. One thing though, they both need new lines scribed into the fender. The lines just stop at the door, I'm sure the finished product would look 100% better if the fenders flowed with the lines of the doors and rear quarter pannel. My :2cents: spoolin12 10-06-2003, 08:20 AM Spoonman: Joeclaw was saying the same thing to me on MSN but the only probs is i have never scribed before and dont have any scribing tools.....:( OPM 10-06-2003, 08:22 AM you are modelling for 10 years or more, right? damn....no... :screwy: :grinno: :naughty: :banghead: :eek7: spoolin12 10-06-2003, 08:27 AM OPM: Wish i was....im only 16 so i got more than enough time to do heaps of modeling! :D SpoonMan Dos 10-06-2003, 08:27 AM Well, you could cover up the lines already on the car with puddy. You have mastered that so this shouldn't be a problem. EMAXX 10-06-2003, 09:12 AM But those lines are killer, and you don't want to lose the lines of a S15. TougeMonkey 10-06-2003, 01:31 PM Spoonman: Joeclaw was saying the same thing to me on MSN but the only probs is i have never scribed before and dont have any scribing tools.....:( You gotta learn sooner or later. It would definitely make both kits look better...and if ya screw up a little, you can putty it back up and try again! spoolin12 10-06-2003, 07:01 PM I dont want to have to putty the lines up.... What tools would i need to scribe a new line? Thanks. :) SpoonMan Dos 10-06-2003, 07:27 PM http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/squ/squ10202.htm Ther's other places you might be able to order one from. I just bought one this weekend, haven't had the chance to use it yet. RyanGiorgio 10-06-2003, 07:31 PM  Those look like they havn't even had a conversion done! Excellent job. Keep us posted. spoolin12 10-06-2003, 07:38 PM Thanks spoonman. I will check out my LHS first :) willimo 10-06-2003, 07:59 PM I agree with extending the body lines into the fender. And you're undertaking a pretty big project already, extending the character line shouldn't be a problem! However, I don't know if I'd use a scriber to do that particular job. I think I'd use a needle file or two or half dozen. If you get one with a curved tip, and a shallow curve to the sides, it would a lot easier to carve that line. A scriber is made to cut a very thin, straight line like around doors, hoods, trunks and the like. Check out this particular set (http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/tam/tam74046.htm) to see what I mean; the two on either end are what I'd use. (Of course, you can get similar shaped files from any manufacturer, they're all the same in the end, pretty much). I'd imagine these would be a lot easier to control considering the amount of material you'll be removing. Anyone else got any other ideas? That's just my humble opinion. spoolin12 10-07-2003, 05:31 AM Well i got some files! (In the picture it looks as if i have scribed too much but its just because i sanded some primer away) http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/JD%20Models/Index/Pictures/Images/s15.180pro/scrib.jpg spoolin12 10-10-2003, 04:17 AM Im giving the 2 cars a rest for a week or so (got skool exams now). Im still deciding on colours for the 2 cars....maybe red and orange? chrismcgee 10-10-2003, 06:06 AM hey dude, your modeling is coming on in leaps and bounds. im very impressed, maybe you should buy a set of needle files to help with the scribing. other than that its looking great. fujimituner235 10-10-2003, 01:38 PM Its lookin crazy!! fujimituner235 10-10-2003, 02:08 PM I think do them both in candy apple red. :D http://www.kazamaauto.co.jp/demo_car/sam14_55.jpg Who makes that body kit? Chrome yellow with the stock GT2 wheels would look mad  ratdat 11-08-2003, 11:04 AM This is top stuff spoolin...I love chop jobs like this! :iceslolan If you get these two sorted and looking sweet how about going for a Zed80 as well :evillol: :evillol: :naughty: http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/105911180sx240z_c.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/105911180sx240z_a.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/105911z81.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/105911irt355ns-img600x450-1067660543180_1.jpg Layla's Keeper 11-08-2003, 11:09 AM God, that Z80 looks so freaking natural! Let's see, Fujimi S30Z kit, Fujimi 180SX...... RyanGiorgio 11-08-2003, 01:22 PM This is top stuff spoolin...I love chop jobs like this! :iceslolan If you get these two sorted and looking sweet how about going for a Zed80 as well :evillol: :evillol: :naughty: http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/105911180sx240z_c.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/105911180sx240z_a.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/105911z81.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/105911irt355ns-img600x450-1067660543180_1.jpg :eek7: Havn't seen that conversion before. I'm not too sure it flows right though, kinda looks like it got onto an accident :evillol:. spoolin12 11-08-2003, 04:20 PM RyanGiorgio: I also have never seen that conversion! But Damn that looks hot! ....hmmm i have a spare Fujimi sil80....now all i need is a 240Z :D I wouldnt be suprised if you see me working on this one soon too! Thanks for the idea! :D ratdat 11-08-2003, 04:34 PM I think there would be a lot of chopping and fabrication in this one. On a 240Z the sides of the hood are straight right from the nose to the scuttle and on the Zed80 they've made it wider rearward of the headlight buckets and made the fender tops slimmer. That front bumper would probably have to be completely fabricated too. Be awesome if you could do it though. It's make a nice partner for your current projects :iceslolan spoolin12 11-08-2003, 09:05 PM Ok, well i sat down last night and scribed the sil80 and finaly got it right. So today i primed it! Now its ready for a nice coat of paint. I will let the primer dry for a week and then give it a coat of paint. Here are the pics: http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/JD%20Models/Index/Pictures/Images/s15.180pro/scribed1.jpg http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/JD%20Models/Index/Pictures/Images/s15.180pro/scribed2.jpg The porsche needs a few toch-ups but is looking good. The 180SX with S15 front will be gloss black. Sebstar 11-09-2003, 12:14 AM man, ur primered cars look so nice already. my dodge attempts at it shouldn't even be mentioned... lol Hm, I reckon the S15 with 180 front would look good in black... like that car pic a few pages ago, but I spose orange would look nice too :lol2: spoolin12 11-09-2003, 02:07 AM Thanks sebstar. I still havnt 100% decided on colour yet. Got bored today so i took a couple of pics of the porsche. http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/JD%20Models/Index/Pictures/Gallery1/Spoolins/GT-2/Wide3.jpg Sebstar 11-09-2003, 04:53 AM nice rims there mate!!! :sunglasse 86_SR5 11-09-2003, 10:58 AM That porsche is looking so hot man. SchuberT 11-09-2003, 02:08 PM I say testor's sapphire blue metallic would look badass on the porsche... i don't think i've seen anyone use that yet... (as usual) I used Testors Sapphire Blue on my Chevy Silverado. Nice color. spoolin12 11-09-2003, 11:09 PM Thanks everyone! :) I might do the 180sx with S15 front in Mica blue....or a nice blue colour (a bit darker than a stock R34 blue) Still undecided though. :D All imputs are more than welcome! 86_SR5 11-10-2003, 04:00 PM Mica blue with cf Hood, and spray transparent blue over the CF hood. Bookshelf 11-11-2003, 11:30 PM Hey Spoolin12, those gold wheels that you had on the one of the Nissans, what are they? Did you modify them some how, looks like you did. spoolin12 11-11-2003, 11:39 PM Bookshelf: They are tamiya R34 Nismo wheels (comes with R34 V-Spec II) I then added a lip on them from some Aoshima rims. SonyMobile 01-03-2004, 03:08 PM got any progress updates for us yet? spoolin12 01-03-2004, 04:38 PM Im about to send off a order to joeClaw for a fujimi exhaust set. JeFF gunluvS14 01-06-2004, 05:00 PM SICK!!! freaking awesome idea. IMO, the onevia should have use the kouki 180sx front eye, that will look a lot more aggressive, but now it looks great already. Keep us update! ;) spoolin12 01-10-2004, 11:38 PM Ok guys! Finally an update! Finished the interior for the onevia. I went for a street/race interior, no passenger seat, carbon floor :D and a few other small things. Here is a pic: http://slidecentral.rs-scooby.com/JD%20Models/Index/Pictures/Images/s15.180pro/Interior1.jpg i will do roughly the same thing for the Sil80 interior. v3rs3 01-11-2004, 12:20 AM Looks nice bro chaos 01-11-2004, 01:18 AM Man, that interior is awesome! I really like the handbrake, scratchbuilt? spoolin12 01-11-2004, 02:57 AM Thanks guys. The extingisher (SP) is out of the Ford Focus as well as the hand break. The Focus logo is embosed onto the plastic. Im thinking about painting the Sil80 and leaving it with no front bumper, and just have a nice intercooler sitting there.... What do you guys think? :) youngdrifter_x 01-20-2004, 08:05 PM Should of done that shiz hpyertek. haha. I dont know spoolin12 i think you should put the front bumper on...and the intercooler!! I'm going to attempt the v-mount...which i mostly likely wont...I say keep the bumper on 86_SR5 01-21-2004, 07:48 PM have it hanging half off! drift rip! Merkava 01-21-2004, 08:26 PM One last color suggestion (in case you have not already decided)... Since the car is in fact two cars grafted together, why not try for a front-to-back fade? Maybe fade from a dark blue nose to an indigo or black rear-end... It might emphasize the very essence of the front end conversion. Just my two-cents, anyway. SonyMobile 01-22-2004, 07:12 PM Have the bumper removeable, this way, you can show the full affect of the intercooler, or tuck it away benieth its skin... just my thoughts, but if you do leave the bumper off, make sure you add some engine details, cause when the front fascia is off a car, you can see more than just an intercooler! im still all for both of them getting Metalic or candy blue paint jobs! geedup 01-22-2004, 08:46 PM like sonymobile said, have it removeable, then you have the best of both worlds, spoolin12 02-06-2004, 02:25 AM Hey guys, I will be painting the sil80 (180sx with S15 front half) tomorrow. I like the red, but I bed I'd like the orange better. If you have some sort image manipulation software, you can see if you can adjust the levels and possibly make it look right. But the car is beautiful regardless, just fantastic! A great, smooth job. Any progress on the other half (halves)? spoolin12 02-13-2004, 01:41 AM Cheers, I also have photoshop (you can adjust the hue/satin it) but i dont like faking things.
