I have a 91 S10 4.3v6 4X4 and cannot get the starter out. I have it
free from the bell housing and have jacked the engine up to get more
clearance, but still cannot get it out. It is hanging up on a bracket
that is welded to the frame. I am ready to try explosives!! :banghead:

FYI---I finally got the old starter out and the new one in. I ended up
having to unbolt the passenger side motor mount and jack up the engine.
Then take one of the screws out that holds the solenoid on, for an extra 1/16" clearance, that's how tight a fit it was. I know this is not how the pros do it, but I'm not a pro.

FYI-94 s-10 4x4 ..all we had to do was back the motor mount bolt the slightest to get it out.Jacking the engine did nothing for us in the end. Granted motor mount bolt was only backed out after hours of trying every possible angle but after finding the solution piece of cake.
