burgundy picsmaartenvanthek 09-27-2003, 06:15 AM annoying magic:P stop going on about those fucked up pics of the car on qv500.com i have new ones wickid, respect 4 me:) found them on jabbasworld.com, a site like kimble.org, but with some good info, anyway, the car was spotted near the supercar rally entry day, balbla, owner was there to say hi to some friends, guy who took the pics had this comment on it: "And now, the loudest car I ever heard in my life! This was something crazy, I heard it from very very far away while I was down in the park eating a sandwich.. had to run up the hill (again) and found it parking and I can assure you the sound was something you can't forget! To bad the owner was just there to say hello to some friends and didn't entered the competition " the pics http://www.kscreations.net/temp/P1010070sf1.jpg http://www.kscreations.net/temp/P1010071sf1back.jpg http://www.kscreations.net/temp/P1010073sf1engine.jpg mazzel maarten jkbon 09-27-2003, 07:29 AM nice pics :bigthumb: the new owner (i suppose) of this car didn't change anything to it. You might be stinky too. :p :lol2: stingy (adjective) - 1. not generous 2. giving or spending reluctantly As I said - no one hates you or is mad at you. I just think that the rest of us here would make more of an effort to share our experience through photographs so that others will benefit as well. >8^) ER jkbon 09-27-2003, 01:26 PM I just think that the rest of us here would make more of an effort to share our experience through photographs so that others will benefit as well. I agree at 10000 % farbod 09-27-2003, 02:52 PM yeh me too McLaren Mike 09-27-2003, 09:32 PM  whos the owner? 1.3m Euros My God, that mans rich (I know, no shit sherlock) That has to be the record price for a McLaren F1. Any pics of the front? The owner has to be there, the doors wide open, or up, and the public is playing with the engine covers, I want to be there! tvrfreak 09-27-2003, 10:03 PM I know the owner--went to school with him for a bit. He used to live in Menlo Park (another city near San Francisco, CA). He had a BMW M1 when I knew him. He is not a US citizen, he was just here to attend school, and he used to load his M1 in the airplane when he went home to visit for the holidays! After graduation, he went back to his home country for a bit, and then he used to ship his M1 here to me so I could have my mechanic work on it. I used to have an M5 at the time. I have lost touch, but I know he now jets around Europe and the Middle East. Bit of a wild character--he used to throw amazing parties! It's incredible how many people connected to McLaren cars in some way also have some sort of connection to this area. maartenvanthek 09-28-2003, 05:37 AM the phrase: "the loudest thing i ever heard" i a bit strange to me i mean, i believe a mclaren is awesomely loud, but it's not louder than some other cars there. i think this car has or a goodwood eshaust system, or a high output engine, or a gtr engine, or a combination of these things... agree? just my :2cents: farbod 09-28-2003, 06:11 AM man that guy is real luck BMW V12 09-28-2003, 01:40 PM well done maarten , but i think, that the original wheels would be better on it , the color is one of the bests , but the wheels look , not ugly , but different to me  :sly: . ^_^ farbod 09-28-2003, 01:42 PM yeh same here mini magic 09-28-2003, 04:27 PM the wheels are from or modeled on a 97 gtr farbod 09-28-2003, 04:29 PM realy i never would have realised that mini magic 09-28-2003, 06:51 PM i didn't think u would :) Stratoraptor 09-28-2003, 06:57 PM the wheels are from or modeled on a 97 gtr how many 1997 F1 GTRs had those kinds of rims? i can only think of the Gulf with the 15-spoke rims... . mini magic 09-28-2003, 07:16 PM well i have a model of the fina gtr, the emi car you and i saw has them, the lark car has them. they all did farbod 09-29-2003, 09:07 AM thier are not that many gtr are thier????? Peloton25 09-29-2003, 01:41 PM There are officially 28 GTRs and possibly a 29th. There's some mystery surrounding one of the GTRs that has been racing in the AJGTC the past few years. There are 9 '95-spec GTRs, 9 '96-spec GTRs - all of those are the standard or short-tailed variety. There are officially 10 '97-spec GTRs and possibly an 11th - all of those would be longtails. >8^) ER mini magic 09-29-2003, 03:16 PM mini magic 09-29-2003, 03:18 PM btw, this is one of my favourite mclaren's now maartenvanthek 09-29-2003, 03:28 PM watch the chassis nr where did u get the pics from and look @ the fins behind the front lights, this car is far from standard, i'd love to hear the output of this car's engine maartenvanthek 09-29-2003, 03:34 PM btw, it has a gtr bumper as wel mini magic 09-29-2003, 04:05 PM oh, btw, the reason its so loud is the fact that the engine is lm spec :) farbod 09-29-2003, 05:05 PM he could have put it on mini magic 09-29-2003, 05:25 PM put what on? farbod 09-29-2003, 05:27 PM oh sorry wrong post yeh i lke the f1 in that colur it is NICE farbod 09-29-2003, 05:29 PM but it is not my favourite mini magic 09-29-2003, 05:36 PM out of sheer curiosity, which one is? let me guess, xp5? farbod 09-30-2003, 06:42 AM no its not my favourite colour mini magic 10-03-2003, 09:58 PM maartenvanthek 10-04-2003, 05:44 AM mini magic sc premium? post them all please, for i'm not premium mzzl maarten mini magic 10-04-2003, 08:24 AM i paid yesterday evening for it, but i don't have it yet. Andrew got some great photos! >8^) ER mini magic 10-04-2003, 02:44 PM he sure did. did u notice the LM speedometer dials, to go along with the LM engine i guess. nice :) McLaren F1 Guy 10-17-2003, 09:58 AM Me thinks this car is for sale. I thought it was chassis #59 but the ad says its a 1996 and #59 is a '98. I wish it showed the VIN# though! That section in the ad is blank. The ad is here: http://www2.thecarexperience.com/pls/carexp/car_exp.car_page?p_car_id=10306 Peloton25 10-17-2003, 11:42 AM I'm not certain if it's for sale or not. As far as the year though, I believe an earlier ad for this car on QV500.com identified it as a 1998. At that time mini magic had used the process of elimination to determine that it was #059 which even he admits now is probably not right. I would assume that this is a 1996 and that maybe it received it's refit to the LM-Kit in 1998 - that could explain the year discrepancies. That is of course complete speculation, but I don't think there is anyone we can ask to get the real story unfortunately. >8^) ER mini magic 10-17-2003, 03:05 PM its not 59, i know that. it was a mistake McLaren F1 Guy 10-17-2003, 03:19 PM Seems like we've hit a dead end with this car mini magic 10-17-2003, 03:26 PM nope, its now going up @ christies McLaren F1 Guy 10-17-2003, 03:29 PM On that link you posted in the McLarens at Christies thread it said the color was Kandy Orange. Isn't the only Kandy Orange car Dan Kennedys??? Theres no way this could be his Peloton25 10-17-2003, 04:08 PM Read my reply in that thread... For the longest time I beleived that Dan Kennedy had somehow gotten his hands on the last F1 road car based on the color. Then later we learned that his car was an earlier road car that had been refitted from the factory, painted to match the last road car. The actual name of the color on the #075 car is 'Yquem' not 'Kandy Orange' - and it get's its name from a french dessert wine of a similar color. If you look at the original chassis list you will see this. When Dan Kennedy bought his F1, he requested the factory to match the color of the last road car and they wouldn't provide the paint code for it so he had them mix up a color he felt was close. He calls the paint color on his car Kandy Orange Metallic. >8^) ER McLaren Mike 10-18-2003, 04:27 AM Anyone a SUPERCARS.NET premium member? I found the pics of the McLaren #75 on supercars, but heaps of the pics are premium members only. Also it might help jomo decide the car, by the condition, very well presented in the thumbnails, anyway here are the links, please if any of you have all the pics, please post them, +75 has nice wheels, better than kennedys attempted bling bling wheels. :grinno: Thanks, here are the links http://www.supercars.net/AutoShows/2003SupercarRally/index10.html http://www.supercars.net/AutoShows/2003SupercarRally/index1.html cheers -Mike :smokin: Peloton25 10-18-2003, 04:35 AM Hey Mike- All of the SC.net Premium images are posted to this thread already by mini magic right here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=1236598&postcount=42). You might have overlooked them as they used to all be in one line requiring you to use the side scroll at the bottom of your screen to see them all. I had mini magic fix the post the other night so they load one on top of each other like normal. >8^) ER McLaren Mike 10-18-2003, 04:58 AM ohh thanks, they are great pics. -Mike McLaren Mike 10-18-2003, 05:39 AM Gordon Murray wouldn't approve, 075 has a radio, and they are very good pics, awesome resolution, you can see every bolt! also has sat nav. Would that enable wireless modem to Woking? I think most f1s have sat nav. Also that has to be the best maintained f1, why sell? The minds of righ people :screwy: Also I found an interesting website talking about people buying written off supercars, and fixing, selling making a great profit, they think they will get an f1, highly unlikely right? Bit of the topic, but first to reply, probably a stupid Q, but this burgundy f1 pic has high mirrors, probs posted b4, is it rowans? And could that pic of the red f1 in Park Lane be of the Clinic Car in red?, anyone know where the clinic car is know? probs woking. And, my dad is in the automotive industry, and just as a bit of info, Peter Stevens was at the Sydney Motor Show, at press day, and he was introducing the new MG, he took credit for designing the f1, but someone quickly pointed out he only did the chassis work, Gordon Murray was the real hero -Mike mini magic 10-18-2003, 08:29 AM did u post a pic? cause i can't see it tvrfreak 10-18-2003, 11:23 AM McLaren Mike, Gordon Murray is the real hero for the concept and details in the McLaren's execution, but Peter Stevens designed the body. Gordon designed the chassis, and both Peter Stevens and Gordon Murray refined it AFAIK. Note the McLaren body's similarity to the Lotus Elise Mk 1. That is also a Peter Stevens design. Gordon Murray typically favours completely minimal body shapes like his Rocket. McLaren F1 Guy 10-18-2003, 11:31 AM Peter Stevens also designed the Jag XJR-15, Lotus Elan M100 and the 2004 Subaru WRX STi http://autozine.kyul.net/Styling/Peter_Stevens.jpg Peloton25 10-18-2003, 04:39 PM Since the term 'designer' can really mean several things to different people, lets call Peter Steven a 'stylist' in this situation. Here's a shot from "Driving Ambition" of Gordon and Peter working together to revise the design details of the McLaren F1. http://a6.cpimg.com/image/9E/26/24832926-a19f-01F40132-.jpg >8^) ER McLaren F1 Guy 10-18-2003, 09:12 PM Woah look at those rims! I'm glad they revised them, IMO those don't look good Peloton25 10-18-2003, 10:02 PM Look at the rest of the design too - it appears that the center section between the wheels was fairly set at the time of that drawing, but the front obviously saw a few revisions and the rear in that photo is almost completely different. Page 46 & 49 of "Driving Ambition" also feature some of the early concept sketches which are interesting to look at. Even better, are some of the photos on page 35 which were artist renderings of what the McLaren F1 might look like as was seen from the motoring press at the time. None of them even came close - a testament to McLaren Cars secrecy during the development process. >8^) ER cabrio92 11-18-2003, 03:19 PM Hello ! Who take these shots ? The pics are very beautiful. I remind me and I can telle you that photographer was lucky enough to see the car before it arrive on top of the hill near others supercars and meet the crowd. The McLaren was not in the list and came by chance ! A question from a friend : the command of view mirrors is common with Open ? Ciao Phil mini magic 11-18-2003, 04:45 PM they were taken by a guy called Andrew Menesce (amenesce) on supercars.net Peloton25 11-19-2003, 04:06 AM I took the time to clean up one of Andrew's photos that I thought was really spectacular, but had a few distracting elements in it. I hope you will appreciate my efforts. It's probably going to be my wallpaper until a better McLaren F1 photo comes along. I don't see that happening very soon though. I think this shot could easily be featured in EVO magazine now that it's been cleaned up. http://speed.supercars.net/boardpics/2003-10-19/1705969-Peloton25asmall.jpg (http://speed.supercars.net/boardpics/2003-10-19/1705969-Peloton25a.jpg) Click the thumbnail to load the 1024x768 version. >8^) ER McLaren Mike 11-19-2003, 04:36 AM well done Peloton, nice work. You should post both pics and see if everyone can spot the differences, haha. Plus peloton, do you only have 2 pics of xp1 and 2 of xp2? -Mike :aus: Peloton25 11-19-2003, 05:17 AM The original is actually on page 3 of this thread, but I'll put it here to make for an easier comparison. http://speed.supercars.net/boardpics/2003-9-3/1543481-Innotechbsmall.jpg (http://speed.supercars.net/boardpics/2003-9-3/1543481-Innotechb.jpg) = = = = = As for XP1 - I think I know which two you are referring to - dark almost overhead shots. I also have some scans that mini magic pulled from "Driving Ambition" and maybe just a few more. I'll have to look for you. For XP2, I only have the crash pics in digital form, but I did recently buy a magazine off of Ebay that has a few more photos of the car prior to it's turquoise paint job for the MIRA test. I'll get a scanner soon, and then I'll be everyone's best friend. ;) >8^) ER mini magic 11-19-2003, 08:54 AM i was going to attempt that but forgot. thanks and good work peloton McLaren F1 Guy 11-19-2003, 03:50 PM Nice job peloton, that pic is now my wallpaper  vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
