1990 3.1 V6 z24, how fast???Parsalian05 09-25-2003, 03:09 PM Ive been looking around for some older (late 80s, early early 90s) cars that have V6 engines, but are rather cheap. Ive noticed these 90 z24's are pretty cheap, v6 engines, look nice... hmmm kbb prices them at aroune 1.5-2k  i looked at this site http://www.v6z24.com/specs/31specs and saw it only has 140 hp! :crying: my friends 88 2.7L v6 acura legend, which is a 4 door, has 160 hp stock. whats the deal!? anyway, im just wondering if buying this kind of car, which will have over 100k miles (a lot for a chevy i would think) that isnt even faster than a legend would be a good decision? non-baised opinions please :) one other thing, with kind of valve system is an LHO? i have no idea. thanks, par ferrari_f50 09-26-2003, 10:00 PM not a lot of miles for the engine. i have a 88 regal with a 2.8l with 270k miles on it and now i just got a 90 z24 with 3.1 with 200k. The 3.1 is the same as the 2.8 accept for crankshaft and pistons. if its taken care of it will last a long time. chrisdahlberg 09-28-2003, 10:56 PM the 88-94 Z24's are great cars. my engine had 235k miles on it and still ran very smooth and strong. i've heard of well over 300k miles without a rebuild or any major problems. they're also very torquey engines, i love the low-end grunt power. just my opinion. RidgeRunner 10-01-2003, 08:10 PM It may be 140hp, but its 185 ft lbs of torque will launch it to a high 15 / low 16 sec quarter mile if well driven. By the way, how heavy is that Legend? The J-car is fairly light, 2500-2800lbs depending on options and bodystyle. I have one in my Sunbird with 188k hard miles on it, and it purrs like new. LH0 is the RPO code for the engine, not the valve system. It's a single camshaft OHV pushrod engine. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
