JDM CTR headlights

is there anyway to make my 99 Civic EX headlights look like the CTR headlights? I know I can pop the little orange reflector out, but is there an easy way to get that black/chrome look that the CTR ones have? That's my main concern. Those headlights look sweet. I know I would have to drill the hole for the city lights too to make them real JDM style. $400 + is just too much for me to be paying right now when I am trying to save for a turbo.

open them up and spray them with a black/gunmetal spray paint. I've seen someone do them before so i know it can be done.

remember that if u take ur headlights apart, remember to seal them up real good. or they are gonna get condensation inside and fog up, then make ur headlights burn out real quick

:werd:
even a seal that looks great will sometimes leak.. seen it before.
On the headlight note, do the ctr headlights have an extra little bulb in them as a daytime running lamp? I saw a guy with a pair and I don't know if it was custom or not... he had hyperwhite turn signal-sized bulbs in there, looked sweet as hell with the lights off and them on.

99-00 Angel Eyes, I MAY sell them, thinking about it, will sell with Catz hyperwhite bulbs but no signal bulbs (you can use the ones you already have), they have blue halos, black housing.

It's not the same unless you drill a hole for city lights, get the paint matched exactly right, and make a perfectly clean, clear silicone seal. I've seen some of the best headlight jobs end up with condensation inside the housing, so I would rather just pay for the real thing.

Painting the housing black is not like the CTR headlights. From what I see of people painting the housing black, it looks nothing like the CTR style, and IMO it looks pretty cheap. I wanted that black-chrome style for mine, but I think the only way to get it is to buy the CTR ones. I can see maybe getting away with the gun-metal paint, but definitely not painting the entire housing black except for the part that reflects the beam. Anyone know where to get CTR headlights cheap? I see them on Ebay for just under $400 and that's for new, which, compared to many other sites, is great seeing as most sites have them for under $400 but they are used. Is the talk of Honda dealerships in the US having access to the JDM parts catalog true? I hope it is cause than hopefully I can get a deal as I know someone at a dealer.

I asked my dealership which belts I need for a Civic Type R engine and they gave me the stupidest look I've ever seen, acting like (kid prolly has an exhaust and thinks it's some kind of racecar). Then asked if it was a DX since it's a hatchback. I had to explain what a fucking engine swap is... Every time I go there for oil filters and parts I just tell them I have an Si since most everything fits.. My point is, they probably won't know shit unless other dealerships are different than mine.

My friend knows the kid at the dealership and he does engine swaps and stuff like that. He said that if I needed work done he would do it for 1/2 the price of parts and labor, which is a sweet deal. I haven't seen him lately to be able to ask about the parts catalog or about just getting parts cheaper as it may be he gets the money with the labor charge. He does the work on Saturdays when the shop is closed, as they let him use it. Is there such thing as a 260 HP Honda engine? Supposedly he is swapping it into a 02 Civic coupe. The engine supposedly costs $9000. The kids car is completely hooked up on the outside and interior, looks damn sweet, not ricey, so I'm sure he has the money, but until I see it, I don't believe heresay.

S2000 and Accord V6 are 240, highest stock hp engines Honda makes (unless you count the NSX engine which is Acura, which is 272 I think, and the auto version is 260?). For $9000 it has to be an engine with aftermarket parts...

Maybe it's the JDM version of the S2000 or something, cause the JDM version usually has more HP, and I know that the engine he is getting is JDM. That'll be one quick Civic with 260 Hp though. I guess I'll post in the engine forum since this is a little off topic. Still thinking about selling those angel eyes? Like I said before, I would be interested. At the least, where did you get them, how much? I see them mostly for around $200, just seeing if you know where to get them cheaper.

I was looking around at Honda-Acura.net in the DIY section and found this. The guy made his stock chrome H emblem black chrome by using black transparent paint that he got at a hobby shop. It looks pretty damn good too. Here's the link if it works http://www.honda-acura.net/forums/showthread.php?threadid=80008 I am thinking of trying this. Sounds like the best way to get that CTR look on your stock headlights. Also I posted in this thread before about painting the housing black, I was wrong and right about it not being CTR. It's just that the black housings are on the 96-98 version. Sorry if I didn't specify which ones I wanted. I don't even think the 96-98 version headlights are Type R. But I'm not sure. I also saw somewhere about painting the clear aftermarket taillights on the CRX by using spraypaint for stained glass windows as that paint is transparent also. I am defenitely looking for that paint.
