My first model(Revell Civic hatch) Progress picsHPIracer 09-23-2003, 11:49 PM I actually started a Tamiya 350Z first but decided to work on the revell so if i mess up its 10bucks gone not 30. I think i caught the modeling bug..I bought the 350z just for something to do between RC races and bought 3 more kits during the next few weeks :( I blame you Spoolin :p http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid81/p9d9a923bf7ee0e1435fbb52d552d3243/fb01f9fc.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid81/p779f7d037363631e7492f83577a09b1d/fb01fa00.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid81/pf3a40c4fd7f65fe0b39501c5a9346cc8/fb01fa02.jpg I know its not the best but i dont think its TOO bad. Ive learned a few things. The body was sprayed today so i guess it will be complete in about a week or so. IwannaDRift 09-24-2003, 12:13 AM nice,,,, finally a civic without a big bowl of RICE!! HPIracer 09-24-2003, 12:37 AM Nope...all stock with me. Except the intake and exhaust and new rims. spoolin12 09-24-2003, 02:24 AM Holy moly! Thats one neat looking car! HPIracer 09-24-2003, 12:28 PM Body preview :) Its tamiya Mica Blue http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid81/p8439faea938d9a9e36f773d14e63a44a/fb001b7f.jpg Sigmaman 09-24-2003, 06:24 PM Good job so far dude,my first model wasnt that good. gasman03 09-24-2003, 06:37 PM wow looks good for your first kit, I remember my first glue kit (back in the day there where ALOT of snap kits on the market so I built those for a while) that was before Tamiya paint, so it was brushed painted and I used that tube glue that got everywhere, it was a glue bomb HPIracer 09-25-2003, 03:34 PM I messed up the paint :( Anyone know an easy fix or should i just leave it alone. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid81/p0586092b9f5b63d0f953de0690210327/fafdad2f.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid81/p13f3391c26d05812c996602e1c3187cd/fafdac13.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid81/p669f467e37e025042ac99af460e0e516/fafdad32.jpg gasman03 09-25-2003, 04:15 PM easy fix, just put on a couple more coats, and that should go away HPIracer 09-25-2003, 05:11 PM it isnt the orange peely look im worried about...its the scratch in the paint in the body line and one tiny one on the hood. I put on a little too much paint and so it kinda built up in the door lines and like an idiot i touched it with my fingernail when it was still wet. spoolin12 09-25-2003, 05:49 PM Looks dam fine for your first kit! Sticker too the rescue! :lol2: XspudX 09-25-2003, 06:10 PM it isnt the orange peely look im worried about...its the scratch in the paint in the body line and one tiny one on the hood. I put on a little too much paint and so it kinda built up in the door lines and like an idiot i touched it with my fingernail when it was still wet. First off, looks awesome. Secondly, you could sand it, or put some more(2 or 3) coats on it. BTW, love the black valve cover  bobby28384 09-25-2003, 10:14 PM Wow thats awesome! I'm working on my first kit as well. An Audi. Unfortunately, I dont have a digi camera though. Anyway, I wish mine looked half as good as yours atm. :uhoh: Spoolin: I LOVE that color of the Pug. You seem to like making racers to street. Thats awesome! You should try the Volvo 850 Saloon. You chose wisely. gasman03 09-25-2003, 10:46 PM sand it lightly using a 2000-3000 grit sandpaper, sand the whole body inculding the scratch, then spray on two or three more coats of paint, then I recommend clear over Tamiya Mica and Matalic paints, should easily repair the scratch turbo type-r 10-09-2003, 10:14 AM my current projects are : a revell civic hatch with the revell integra type-r front end a revell civic coupe with a revell viper front end and s2000 rear tails HPIracer 10-09-2003, 01:48 PM Im trying to decide if i should sand it. The hood and bumpers are almost like a mirror fisinsh even without the clear coat or polishing. The main body has some mess ups that bother me(im the same with my RC bodies..if i know theres even the tinyest mess up in paint it drives me crazy). So im debateing weather or not i leave it or if i sand it and risk making it worse. supramike420 10-09-2003, 07:05 PM thats good for a first model. do u think we could see the body HPIracer 10-10-2003, 12:40 AM Ok..i havent done any progress but here are some more shots. What do you think, sand it and fix the paint errors or just go ahead with the clear coat. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid83/p09253b1c0b71b106e59c136eb8a1fc65/faddd6f5.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid83/p93e99103250bfb6a87c26d93c6506d4b/faddd6ee.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid83/pf13b74ddba7940b61c45cb09b6677128/faddd6ea.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid83/pf44a36a963c0cb9cc739ac9989906feb/faddd6e6.jpg spoolin12 10-10-2003, 12:48 AM I cant see any errors? Looks dam good! but do give it a clear coat! Wicked for your first kit! :) vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
