ITR or CTR swap for CRVTEC94tegRS 09-23-2003, 11:49 PM ok, as alot of you have probably read in the past I have planned on CRVTEC for SOOOOO long, well, my dream should soon be a reality. I got the B20b longblock, I got JE 11:1 pistons for it, and some headers ill use til I wanna spring for DC 4-1's. anyways, I have such a horrible record that I have to start with a non vetc for insurance reasons. and I was thinking of all the crap Id need head 400 or so dist 100 or so ECU 125 at least harness 100 at least sensors 200 at least vtec oil pump maybe 100 tranny 700 for a good one axles 100 shift linkage 50 mounts 150 LSD isnt quaiffe like 800 bucks intake manifold 125 I know about running the oil and the dowel pins but any route I go id need them so i am not including the prices in my figures. so it works to about 3000 bucks now a CTR swap is 3800+ shipping and I heard that it is the best B series vtec head. is this true? also the ITR swap is 4600+shipping, so since the displacement isnt an issue to me(im going to 2.0) I think the B16b is the way to go, what do you guys think? can i please have a site to find it myself or can you list the gear ratios of the ITR tranny as well as the CTR tranny. and I know they are both LSD so I would like to use either one. I can get a B18C1 swap with LSD for 3500+ shipping. but I heard that the GSR intake manifold/head is thew worst flowing of the VTEC's.and the 300 bucks is worth it to me for the (pretty sure lower gearing) and the better flow. also I can get a B16A SIR2 complete swap w/LSD for only 2650+shipping. is the CTR head/tranny/ECU enough of an improvement over the B16A parts to justify an extra 1k+ dollars? also is there much of a demand for a B16B or B18C5 shortblock? Options 09-24-2003, 12:54 AM Personally if i were you i wouldnt bother getting the CTR head for the money, i would just stick with the B16A2 head, and then get some CTR cams, with titanium valve springs, and retainers and that would be a lil better then a CTR head and for a lil cheaper. 94tegRS 09-24-2003, 01:11 AM well, if I am going t0 have to buy cams and such, I would probably go crower stage 2 with dual springs/titanium retainers, but I was thinking of the swap not only for the head but the tranny and ECU as well, the B16b has 10.8:1 cr, and the C5 has 11.1:1 and Im gonan be dealing wiht about 11.2-11.3:1 and thought maybe the stock ECU would be enough until I could get the hondata es200 setup in the car. Options 09-24-2003, 06:59 PM Yeah i would just do that, the B16 head can handle 11.2-11.5 compression, and with the Crower stage 2 cams and dual springs that thing will run like a champ, and as far as the ecu goes i dont think there will be ne problems runnin it, but it might start throwing CEL's though simply because its so different. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
