My dad is thinking of getting rid of his 98 GMC Sierra 1500 z72 off road pickup for an 02 Toyota Tundra TRD. He is has been with Detroit V8 power all his life and is kinda reluctant on getting Japanese V8. What are some of the advantages of getting the Tundra over the Sierra? He thinks that when he switches from a 5.7 liter to a 4.7 liter there is going to be less power and torque....

I don't think your dad just by seat of the pants feel will notice the difference between the Toyota 4.7 Liter and the chevy 5.7 Liter. Torque numbers are really similar between the two trucks...he will be giving up some horsepower to the Chevy and some size but that's about it. The Toyota V8 can tow up to 7000lbs, which is similar to the chevy. I honestly think he'll be happy with the Toyota if he chooses to go in that direction... :icon16:
