OK so I thought now'd be a good time to get to know AF's growing 156 owners community better- So here is the thread where you generally post about, you- where you are from, how old you are and the rest of it is talking about your car :D:D

I'll start

I'm Jimmy, I'm 28 years old and work as the General Manager of a FIAT/Alfa/Lancia leasing agent, I live in Genoa, Italy- but am originally from New Zealand

I have a 2003 pre-facelift model V6 2.5 Sportivo in Rosso Proteus and Black Momo leather- it is a 6 speed manual with minor tweaks to the engine (Intake, filter, Exhaust/Extractors/Muffler) and I am now getting more out of the beautiful FWD Chassis with adjustable suspension and Brembo brakes. also on the cards will be a move from 17 inch Novitec wheels to 18 inch BBS ones. The only other modifications are Audio (Better amp, 10 inch Subwoofer in custom enclosure, 4 better speakers gonig through a Pioneer head unit) and clear lense tail-lights.

Your turn

Hi

I'm Rehan, 36 years old and an investment banker living in Dubai, UAE. I am originally from Pakistan.

I drive a 1998 model 2.5 V6 in Grigio Africa with tan Momo leather interior. The car started its life with what was then called the Luxury Pack (wooden steering + gear-knob; sunroof). Over the last 4 years I have steadily modified the car as follows:

Side skirts from the Sports Pack
Eibach springs and Koni dampers
17" Selespeed wheels
Front strut tower brace in steel (from Alfa catalogue)
Autodelta direct air intake system
Brembo front "big-brake" kit

I have kept the standard ICE system but changed all speakers (JBL 3-way speakers in the rear doors; JBL Component speakers with separate tweaters and cross-overs in the front).

My next big project is an engine rebuild (hopefully next year) consisting of a capacity increase to 3.2 litres, balancing and blueprinting. I am hoping to employ the the services of a famous South African engine builder who specialises in Alfa Romeo engines. At the same time I hope to rebuild the gearbox with a Quaife LSD. Let's hope all this works out!!

Regards,

Rehan

I'm Paul Stuhlfelder (big words!) and I'm 20 years old, I live in Caernarfon in North Wales and I work as a "Desktop Systems Support Officer" in the Council, less glamarously known as I.T Tech!

My car is a 1999 1.8TS, it already had the "Pepper Pot" alloys, Skirts and the CF Center console when I bought it.
Personally I have replaced the air filter with a "Green Cotton" unit, and the car now runs an MP3 Kenwood head unit, with upgraded speakers, 6*9's in the rear and a 12" sub.
Sounds great, you can't beat the rumble in low revs and the jet like scream as you push it all the way up to the limiter!

Well, looks like I shall have to withdraw from the 156 Registry, and sign myself into the

Spider Lusso registry :)
My 156 is for sale, and I've just placed a £200 deposit on a lovely metallic blue spider with tan leather interior, it's a 1998 model which has only done 25000 miles. Its been in Jersey until now!!

The end of an era -

Hi guys.

My name is Paul O'Donovan, I'm 22 and live in Cambridge, UK. I'm picking up an Alfa 156 2.5 v6 (http://www.pertheus.co.uk/pics/newcar.jpg) tomorrow evening and I'll post a nicer photo when I've got it.

It's a 1999 on a 'V' with 62000 miles, it has Koni lowered suspension and I'm replacing the steering wheel and gear knob as they are nasty wooden effect things. I'm also considering getting the car chipped to free up another 12bhp but I'm sure that can wait a while. I'll also probably replace the head unit with one that can play MP3 CDs.

Hi Jim,

My name is Harvey, I live in Lowestoft, Suffolk in the UK and I've got a 99 156 2.5 V6. Had it only a few weeks, really enjoying it, black Momo Leather interior, no other mods as yet ......

Think this could be the beginning of being a serious petrol head, currently addicted to this car in a big way...............performance, style & the kids fit in the back.

Is this some form of mid-life crisis?????

Who cares, all I know is that every time I get into or out-of th car I've got a grin like a Cheshire Cat :lol2:

Keep in touch you all

Best regards

What's the price in UK of one litre of fuel (green 98 octane) ??

Expensive as all fuel here, around £0.78 to £0.80 per litre, based on about 1.44 euros to the pound it works to be 1.12 to 1.15 euros. Luckily I've got a company fuel card, so they foot the bill for the gas.

Hi my names Andy and I live in the grimm North East of the UK. I have just bought a 2003 Alfa 156 2.4 JTD Veloce Sportwagon, lovely car!! I have never had a diesel that goes and handles like this before. It hs the full leather interior, Bose stereo (incl fitted sub) and goes forever on the diesel - unless you bury the throttle :)

However I am having problems with the warrenty . . . The airbag warning light came on today . . . But apart from that what a wicked car!!

Hi, my name dave and i Purchased my 2.4 jtd around 2 months ago. I have really caught the alfa bug. As the car was the standard Turisimo I have upgraded the gear knob, replaced pepperpots with teledials, chrome door pins and new alfa logo numberplates.

The car is great as an 02 car it has the updated dash etc which personally I like ( others thik its a bit chav ? ) reasonable miles for a diesel but does around 600 to the tank and always puts a smile on my face when I overtake it's v quick for a diesel.

next mods will be

put on sideskirts
leather seats
poss get it remapped up to 195 bhp :licka:

cheers !

alfagirl i put a reply to your question about the gear knob.

Had 2 156s since new.

First one was a 2.0 TS 1999 to 2002 traded it at 81,000 klms on a V6 6 speed. V6 is a sweet thing and a real driver's car. Just did a deal on a new 159 just hit Oz.

Further update, it's now 2009 and I have just bought a 2004 156 GTA to replace my 159 now sold to a friend after 2 ½ years of ownership since new.

An incredibly focused machine compared to my other 156s.

Hi... I'm Julian.
Not necessarily new to Automotive forums, but new to this section.
I'm usually on alfaowner.com for all my queries...

I own a 2003 Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 V6. It looks and sounds so cool, I thought of tricking it out into a spy car. However as with Alfa's there are alot of detours.
So far I've shelled out alot in terms of engine tune-ups and changing the timing belt and water pump. I also had the air conditioning done. That is kinda vital here.
After I got the car back, I had an accident where someone rammed my car in the rear. It was quite bad and needed a chassis repair. Thank God for insurance.

My car is posted in cardomain.... http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3232467
