Hey everyone there's this guy i know from school who is lucky enough to have rich parents who bought him a 2000 Honda Prelude. He likes to call the Honda Del Sols Del Slows. I am getting a B16A engine swap with my '93 Sol but what else is there that i can upgrade with that will make me happy wit my car even more, make my car fast, and might even make the Prelude guy drool? No i'm not swapping engines and changing my car to make teh guy drool but, hell, it is a plus.
Im thinking after i get my engine ill save up and buy either a new exauhst system or new, better suspention.

Two things:

1) The hell with that guy. Give it 10 years and when you've been through life's experiences and learned how to take care of and support yourself and he's still depending on Mommy and Daddy for all his bills, you know you've been the better person. Conceited people like that don't gain true respect. Tell Pampers to blow it out his ass.

2) Del Sol's aren't that common anyway, which makes them cool to begin with. I see Preludes everywhere. Once you get your B16A swap, you're only 40hp short of what his engine has, plus you're lighter. Save your money, take your time, do some suspension mods, open it up with exhaust mods and intake, and throw a turbo on that thing. He'll change his tune when he's eating gravel.

Okay, so I lied. Here's a third:

3) Be happy with your car. If he thinks it's slow, well good for him. If you like your car, then that's all that matters. Take your time with it and make it how you want it. Everyone elses' opinion is irrelevant. And if you are serious about a motor swap and want some more power than the B16A produces (160hp), you could consider a B18C1 (Integra GS-R motor - 170hp) or B18C5 (Integra Type-R - 195hp) motor. They're the same size and family and will fit into your Del Sol no problem.

i started another post as you saw on another part of Automotiveforums.com but never got a full answer. YOu seem like you know your shit so ill ask you mr Plastic Fork.(or mrs/ms)
A lot of people were talking about (in the other post) that i can get a B16A engine for my Sol but out of all the years you were posting i didn't see a '93 come up.
so my question is:
Can i drop a B16A engine into my '93 Del Sol?

Thank you
and if i can, Should i go through a dealer or should i go through a web site? What websites, if any, have you used in the past that were reliable?

"Mr." is fine.

Honda did not make a VTEC model in '93 which is why everyone posts the years '94 - '97. Those were the years Honda put the B16A in the Del Sol. But the car really didn't change much over the years from '93, so yes a B16A motor will fit in there no problem. Just make sure you get the right stuff for it.

Here is a site that should help with the parts you need for a B16A swap (or just about any other B-series swap):

http://www.knology.net/~jediklc/Swap%20Part%20List.htm

I've not personally done a motor swap, so I would suggest using what others have suggested in the other post.

Mr. fork!
I donīt know if i want to be this but Honda DID make Vtec sols earlier than -94 but not in US.;)
To hey you>> it depends on how much money u want to spent on your Sol.
Iīve say go for the swap, then add a full flow exhaust,4-1 mainfold, Cold air intake of some kind, open up the throttle body, ITR header,Toda spec B cams, harder springs, ITR LMD, ecu,and new mapping etc, etc. with that i`d say you probebly will do 160-170 whp.

Correct, but I was only mentioning the years the VTEC models were available in the US. I believe they were made from 1992 to either 1999 or 2000 overseas. It'd be easier for him to get a B16A from the USDM than importing an engine from overseas plus it'd be cheaper and he can see the engine firsthand before buying if he's near the seller.

But I was explaining why he only saw those particular years mentioned ('94 - '97) which is because they are the only years the US saw the VTEC Del Sol.

hmm interesting. to krollan ~> im not wanting to spend all that money on the sol i have right now. my plan is to sell my sol i have right now and save up some money and spend it on a later year Sol with a VTEC engine already in it. then go from there to exhaust/headers/Intake/turbo etc
