i recenly bought a 305 for an s-10, and i was wondering if it is a MUST to put headers on it, b/c i really dont want to pay the extra expense if i dont have to. i heard u have to b/c the exaust hits the starter, is this true?

I don't have headers on my 85 s10 i have GM truck manifolds that i want to swap out for headers bad.... Take my advice and put headers on you might not want them now but they make as much as 40 Horsepower difference. I have about 350 horsepower with the manifolds but the motor is built well... i want headers bad so do urself a favor and put headers on...even though you don't need them

u have asmall block in a s-10?if u do then u shouldnt have to move the steering column b/c they make special headers fo s-10 v8 conversions that are made to go around everything, like the steering column and starter.

I have a 350 V8 in my S10 and have installed 305 Chevy exhaust manifolds, not headers. These work really nice and clear everything (starter, steering column, body). Only one comment: getting the last bolt on the driver's side close to the firewall is next to impossible. I installed a thicker gasket and did not put that bolt in, no leaks.

I have seen used sets of headers for v8 s10s on ebay for well under $100
