Steering Wheel Shake

I have a '99 SL2 which is having steering wheel shake at speeds around 65 mph. I recently had the brakes done, and took it to the dealer to find out why the steering wheel now shakes. They told me that the wheel hubs were warped and needed to be replaced. I took it back to the shop that did the brakes, and they replaced the hubs, but didn't do a re-alignment, saying the re-alignment wasn't needed. The steering wheel still shakes, so I am looking for answers to the cause. Before having the brakes done (rotors resurfaced, new pads, new brake calipers on the front) the steering wheel didn't shake at all. If anyone has had a similar problems I'd appreciate the help!

If you are driving the thing and not braking then it is the alignment....that is the only reason that it would shake while driving. Unless you have a broken axle......did you check that?

First, check to make sure there is nothing physically wrong with the front tires. I've seen cases where a tire tread is starting to separate from the tire and causes a vibration. Second, take the car to a shop to verify that a wheel weight has not come off. An out of balance wheel will cause a vibration in the steering wheel as well. Make sure all lug nuts are tight also. If all this checks out then you may have an alignment problem. Good Luck!

did they ever align it after the brake job? its possible they coulda messed it up then.

an unbalanced wheel could also be the problem (weight falling off). have both done.
