civic with H22, GTI with VR6. I'm looking for a small fast car that's good on gas

VR6 requires premium fuel... I am pretty sure Prelude's H22 requires it too. Not very good on your wallet considering premium gas costs $2.20+ right now. Just something to take into consideration since you mentioned about gas.

VR6 is a damned nice motor- better than an H22- but like mentioned- neither will be easy on the gas- and both will need at least 93 Octane if they are tuned to American standards

thanks, I didn't know the VR-6 needed high octane gas.... How much psi can a stock vr handle? or am i better off geting a different engine?

stock vr should handle 10-15psi, drop compression to 9:1 you should be easy 15-20, the vr is a strong motor, but anything over 300 whp needs to be lookin for a new lsd

A hatch with a H22a may tend to be alittle more nose heavy than the GTi if that matters, the stock shifter on a GTi is also very precise and fun to click around.

well, the vr6 is just about perfect. the engine is soooo smooth, my g35 feels coarse in camparison, stock internals have been able to go up to about 350 or 400 hp, LSD is also very key, mkae sure u get one in ur planning to boost, there is also a supercharger kit on awetuning.com for about $3500, it adds 78 hp in stage 1, 108 in stage 2, if ur interested
