I have a 2000 Camry and each year has a different way to program remotes which can be obtained from any dealer. On my 2000 you have the driver's door open and then put the key in and immediately pull it out. Right away you click the door lock on the driver's side 5 times on and off. Close the door and again click the power lock 5 times on and off. Leave the door open and insert the key and pull it out two times. You should hear the power lock go up and down two times. The press the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously for more than one second. Then right away press either the lock or the unlock button for more than one second. That should take care of it.

One clarification...when you put the key in the keylock two times on the third step, you turn the key to the on position and back off both times. Don't just put the key in and pull it out.

Hi Kathy;
I was able to program the new remote with your instructions and it worked but my other remote stopped working. It seems I can program
one or the other to work but not both at the same time...
The numbers on the back are identical... all of the numbers are.
Any clue? Does anyone else have a clue?

Regards;

Jim

I figured it out...... follow Kathy's instructions but if you have two
remotes, on the last step, select lock for remote #1 and Unlock for remote #2.....

I am a happy camper now.... I have two working remotes.....

Hi,
I couldn't get this to work either, but found these similar instructions which do work:
A nice fellow at doityourself.com gave me the following instructions for
programming keyless transmitters designed to work with my 2000 Camry.
Since I had a tough time finding someone to give me these and they
worked for my 2000, I thought I'd pass them along:

All doors unlocked, drivers door open

Insert key and remove(do not turn)

Lock and unlock doors with button on drivers door 5 times(1 sec
intervals)

Close drivers door, Open drivers door

Lock and unlock doors with button on drivers door 5 times

Take key insert and turn to On position then to lock Twice, remove key

Locks should cycle lock to unlock by themselves if you completed the
sequence properly and it is equipped with keyless entry

In the next 10 secs or so complete the next step :
Take the remote and hold lock and unlock buttons at the same time for
about a sec and then press either lock or unlock for a sec. If the
locks cycle the programming was a success.

To add additional remotes, simply repeat the last step (hold both in, then press lock or unlock) on each one sequentially. Worked like a charm!!!
