1:18 Maisto Porsche Carrera GTStygianMax 09-05-2003, 02:22 PM Hi all, I'm new to this forum but have been collecting 1:18 scale cars for about 2 years. Anyway, does anyone know why Maisto's model has two parts on the rear rotors painted yellow? I know most cars with disc brakes have one single brake caliper. I'm just baffled by that. Here's a link to a picture: http://www.idcowdiecast.com/yahoostoreidcow/products/toy2012_002.jpg cheers Gafoto 09-05-2003, 03:40 PM Cmon stygian! You should know that is what prevents this great German Supercar from rolling down a hill and going up the ass of a :yugosmili . I'm not sure why some 1:18 cars don't have the e-brake but only the caliper. I suppose Maisto's quality is improving. Note the brake discs on the carrera GT are actually drilled all the way through the dist! Overall that car just looks hot. simdel1 09-05-2003, 04:08 PM yea, i got that car a few months back...its very hot. i particularly like the fact that the rear wing can actually be lifted up, just like the real one that lifts at a certain speed i agree, that second little caliper is most deffinately the hand brake/parking brake/ whatever the hell you want to call it StygianMax 09-05-2003, 08:43 PM Uh oh....the noob has been owned here. :uhoh: I guess it makes sense to have a separate e-brake set of pads & caliper since when the car is parked after a spirited drive, the main set of calipers and their pads will be really hot. If the e-brake were to press those hot pads against the rotors, they start warping that much sooner. Should I paint my rotors on the Carrera given the rotors don't actually rotate along with the wheels? Gafoto 09-06-2003, 09:54 AM I have painted the calipers on one piece brake discs and it ends up just fine. Try putting tape over the disc and leaving the caliper exposed. Then spray! ac2539 09-22-2003, 07:13 PM i saw this car at fry's haha, i want it StygianMax 09-24-2003, 03:11 PM Here are some pics I took recently of my black Carrera GT. http://members.rogers.com/stygianmax/118/carreragt-1.jpg http://members.rogers.com/stygianmax/118/carreragt-4.jpg http://members.rogers.com/stygianmax/118/carreragt-7.jpg jcz1987 09-24-2003, 05:32 PM Nice! I trying to find one like that but with silver. Gafoto 09-24-2003, 06:21 PM that model is so damn hard to lower.... I'll get some pics of mine up soon though. simdel1 09-26-2003, 02:18 PM that model is so damn hard to lower.... I'll get some pics of mine up soon though. why would you want to lower it? Gafoto 09-26-2003, 02:49 PM Why not is the question. Supercars are supposed to be low... simdel1 09-27-2003, 12:33 PM and this is already low... ac2539 09-29-2003, 12:53 AM Nice! I trying to find one like that but with silver. i got this car yesterday at fry's. pretty....i got the black one, they also had the silver one, but i like the black one more. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
