CADguy 09-04-2003, 02:10 PM Great job. The cockpit and engine detail are great. I hope to accomplish your level of realism when I get around to building mine. It turned out very nice. farbod 09-04-2003, 02:11 PM yeh i agree it is a very goodpiec of work farbod 09-04-2003, 02:23 PM one question how long did it take Sennake 09-04-2003, 02:28 PM About a month or so I guess... Actually ... I started to build the Lotus begin august but... I had it in my shelve since 1994 when I inherated it from a deceased friend who had started the painting of the body. I tried to spray a layer on top of my friend's work, but that didn't work out. So I had to strip all the paint and start over again, which I did. From there on I worked almost all month of august to reach completion today. I described my first steps on this model in this (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=108229&page=2&pp=15&highlight=Lotus) topic, but I started a new one after a while, because I was going kinda off-topic in the first one. Valentino 09-04-2003, 02:57 PM Simply Amazing  pettercardoso 09-04-2003, 03:03 PM Wow, that's awsome!! Great job! PS - How's that Ford coming along? I've bought that kit today and I'm starting on it tonight..Do you have any coments on that? Is it a straight forward build, or not really? Thanks Sennake 09-04-2003, 03:09 PM Actually... I'm starting to work on that Ford tomorrow  The Lotus has taken all my attention, now I'm gonna "throw" myself on the Ford. It will be a straight forward build, but with lots of attention to detail. The Lotus is also a straight forward build BTW... Slipknot 09-04-2003, 03:11 PM thats awesome, just awesome! bigfrit 09-04-2003, 03:19 PM I hate you! :banghead: I m never going to make that car look so good as you just did! Man, I love the little details that make it a true masterpiece! Gorgeous engine detail, exhaust, nice wood effect on the steering wheel, and one thing I don't really see, the red in the cockpit, is it flocking ? it doesn't look plain, looks a bit textured, or that might just be the jpg compression? Two thumbs up ! Olivier Sennake 09-04-2003, 03:25 PM The red in the cockpit, is it flocking ? it doesn't look plain, looks a bit textured, or that might just be the jpg compression? Damn, I hate to disappoint you but... it's really the jpg compression I'm afraid. I painted the interior with "plain" matt red paint... OrangeR 09-04-2003, 03:28 PM Beautiful work!!! Lotus always look good on green (metallic isn't my favorite but yours made me change my mind a little) I'll use your work for referance when I get to make mine. The Lambrusco Kid 09-04-2003, 03:30 PM thats a nice car you've built. I love it! I really like the way you made the engine look "dirty" is that metallic paint on the engine? What kind? it's really nice you cannot see any flakes. :icon16: Sennake 09-04-2003, 03:31 PM I'll use your work for referance when I get to make mine. That is the nicest compliment anyone could give me :p Sennake 09-04-2003, 03:34 PM is that metallic paint on the engine? What kind? The engine has been painted in 4 major colors : matt green for the engine block, haze grey for the gearbox, semi gloss black for the oil pan and flat aluminium (Tamiya XF-16) for the engine cover. I suppose that is the color you are reffering to? Also I blackwashed the completed engine with Tamiya's Smoke X-19 and then I drybrushed it very subtle with Silver Leaf. farbod 09-04-2003, 03:35 PM well i tried to make one but i tried misrably i never tried again but you is great dont forget to tell when you finish the ford farbod 09-04-2003, 03:37 PM i tried to make one i failed misrably tell us about your ford when you finish it weaponCIVIC 09-04-2003, 05:39 PM it looks amazing :grinyes: the intereior and everything looks so professional! but why is the front yellow? Sennake 09-05-2003, 12:34 AM it looks amazing :grinyes: the intereior and everything looks so professional! but why is the front yellow? Because they often are, and I kinda like it that way. Seems that it's safer with a yellow nose... Why? Beats me. Maybe it's easier to estimate the distance to the front of the car? http://www.javelinamx.com/carstars/prisner1.jpg chaos 09-05-2003, 01:08 AM Absolutely flawless!!! I love it! Sigmaman 09-05-2003, 01:26 AM Beautiful model, well done. deedlit 09-05-2003, 01:51 AM A real masterpiece  I don't find words to describe it  :bigthumb: Mikke 09-05-2003, 02:13 AM I have never been more amazed by a model than I am now. Absolutely stunning, just perfect. Btw, is the wood effect on the steering wheel also just JPEG compression? Focus2000 09-05-2003, 04:33 AM Outstanding work, the attention to detail is amazing. That engine looks like it's actually been used! I look forward to your progress on the Focus WRC, I'm another person with this kit in the to-do pile. RallyRaider 09-05-2003, 06:31 AM Superb work yet again Guy. darrenj 09-05-2003, 07:33 AM Fantastic PIKKIES :iceslolan :iceslolan I was wondering you have posted some large good quality pics. Absolutely stunning, just perfect. Btw, is the wood effect on the steering wheel also just JPEG compression? Lol, no, it's created by painting it with a matt brown paint and after drying I went over it with the always present Tamiya Smoke X-19 :) farbod 09-05-2003, 01:12 PM how big is it because it looks realy small in the picture Guido 09-05-2003, 03:30 PM Guy, as I said on "De Paddock" (http://forum.depaddock.net/) this is just a heavelny model. I drove it's younger brother the Caterham Super7 for a weekend and you just did this Lotus all the justice it deserves in 1/24th!! Here are some pics of the one I rented a couple of years ago. I hope you don't mind  http://users.skynet.be/automotomover/real/super7/seven-2.jpg http://users.skynet.be/automotomover/real/super7/seven-4.jpg Sennake 09-05-2003, 03:54 PM how big is it because it looks realy small in the picture It is 14 cm by 6 cm (or 5,5" by 2,3")... farbod 09-06-2003, 10:50 AM wow thats realy small that means it must have been even harder to make egon_dude 09-06-2003, 11:26 AM that must be one of the cleanest builds i have ever seen . . . absolutley flawless work there. I love the metallic dark green, a cool yet subtle twist on the typical (solid) british racing green you normally see. Doesnt the yellow nose date back to the racing Lotus 25? i think yellow and green are the factory team colours. But i might be mistaken, just a thought. Is that the tamiya kit or a different make? i notice that its got a different windshield to the one in the tamiya catalog (BTW, your looks much better!) bigfrit 09-06-2003, 12:32 PM that must be one of the cleanest builds i have ever seen . . . absolutley flawless work there. IIRC you get the choice between the full one and this one the "clubman" racer . as for the yellow on the nose, I would also really know why.. what I ve read and heard , it's basically to be spotted better through traffic (I.E driving between a van) Not sure what to think of it .? Olivier farbod 09-06-2003, 01:27 PM amazing absoluetly amazing Sennake 09-07-2003, 10:52 AM Thank you everyone for the very nice comments :) It motivates any modeler and will certainly lead to more interesting projects and of course, more pics for you to enjoy :) farbod 09-07-2003, 11:46 AM ahhh well we are being honest it is real amazing :iceslolan :iceslolan :iceslolan :iceslolan :iceslolan :iceslolan :iceslolan :iceslolan :iceslolan :iceslolan Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
