bumper paint touchupstrodda 08-27-2003, 07:47 PM i had to do a little painting on a bumper, and the touchup kit i bought came with the factory honda black paint and a universal clearcoat. i noticed today after it dried that the paint i applied(with the brush applicator) is a little streaky. is there anything i can do to smooth it out a little without scratching off or affecting the color of the paint? maybe a soft steelwool or some kind of sandpaper. bdt09 08-28-2003, 09:06 PM i wouldnt use anykind of sandpaper or steel wool, you could try using a high speed buffer with a compound, wipe it off and then use a polish wax, that might help. Duatone 08-29-2003, 06:30 PM if you want your touch-up job to look really good, though this mainly applies to chips and heavy scratches, is apply enough paint so it is just slightly high than the rest of the surrounding paint, let cure, wet sand LIGHTLY with 2000 grit, and i mean lightly, then polish and repeat with the clear, if you happen to sand through, just re-apply the paint and try again. this is the right way to do it. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
