Best Oil For A Corolla

What oil does everyone use for their Corollas? I currently use Valvoline Durablend 5w-30 and it has performed well. But with 60K miles coming up this fall or winter, I am thinking about a potential switch to Synthetic.
I have heard a good deal about AMSOIL and Schaeffer's and others, but I want your opinions on what would be a good oil for someone like me who drives about 10K miles per year or so in normal conditions in a central KY climate. Also what filters are good? I had been going to VIOC and they have their own filters. I normally drive 5K miles between oil and filter changes. :)

I run Valvoline 20-50 full syn formula. Change it every 2,000 miles, why so often? Becouse its a '78 Toyota Corolla with 503,000 miles on a 3K-C engine :smokin: . Still runs like a top. Older the engine, and depending in the temprature of your climate, generaly you wanna go with thicker oil.

Personally I think you are uses the best oil presently for the cilmate changes 5w-30. Valvaline is the offical oil for toyota.

I am thinking since you have to put the Corolla up on jack stands that draining every drop of oil is difficult unless you open the plug and then let it down. Am I wrong here?

BTW, I am probably going to switch to Mobil 1 next change just 400 miles away! How'd you decide on purolator?

castrol syntec 10W30 change every 2,000 miles to keep engine cleaner in hopes of it lasting longer. 28,000miles so far on my 2000. no problems yet. 2,000 mile oil change must work since raelet still has his car running at 503,000 miles so i will stick with this system. plus a guy i work with does the same thing and he has 2 cars with around 150,000 miles on them each and they are still running as well. plus 3,000 is just an estimate i think it depends on how much you drive and the conditions of the driving which should determine how often you get your oil changed.

Go with Mobile 1 Synthetic 10w30. Synthetic makes a HUGE difference (in my opinion) in gaining life out of your investment.

Valvoline Durablend is a good oil, better then you have to treat a toyota engine to last. you could easily get 200k from a toyota engine on regular valvoline, durablend is just an added bonus for the engine. so i would say keep using what you're using, no point in paying $4-5/qt for oil, at about 3.5-3.9 qts of oil for you're car... waste of money. just stick with what you've been using

Mobil One 5w-30 with Wix oil filter every 7,000 miles. 132,000 miles and going strong. And I don't have to put Corolla on a stand to change oil or oil filter. Long arms help.
