Hi everyone, i was wondering if the 2003 Impreza 2.5 RS is a good choice as my first caar. I am turning 16 in 2 weeks, and my parents are willing to spend up to $20,000(yes, lucky, i know) on a new car for me. I know that i can read as many possible professional reviews, but the best advice will come from the subaru owners themselves. How reliable is it? i plan to get an auto, is that going to be powerful enough? Please give me some advice. My other options are the Accord LX Coupe or the Jetta GL.

the impreza is an awesome car. mines an auto right now. great 0-60 poor 60-100 stock. ofcourse im running on the 2.2L stock right now the rs is a bit quicker in taht aspect. the gearing is way close togeather so you off the line acceleration will be killer. i say get it you will not regret it. verry stable great handeling plenty of power and lots of room for mods. well peace and good luck

My first car was a 99 Impreza 2.5 RS. By far one of the best cars I've owned! I drove that thing really hard for 2 years with a 70 dry shot of NOS for the whole second year, and NEVER ran into any issues.

Im sure you'll be really happy with it.

BTW it will blow the doors off the other cars you have listed as options!

The RS is an excellent car: safe, reliable and fun-to-drive. I've had a 2003 TS (automatic) for about a year now and have nothing but praise for it. The automatic is reliable, but is not 'sport' tuned. I usually pull it back into 3rd manually when accellerating onto a freeway on-ramp or passing someone, rather than waiting for it to decide to shift down itself.

I almost bought a Jetta, which arguably is a better looking car, but when I was researching it I found numerous reports of poor quality parts and construction. The Honda is probably a good car but, if 0-60 times are important to you then AWD is better than FWD. Subaru’s low centre of gravity also make cornering/handling a lot more fun.

If you get the RS the biggest problem you are going to have is you’ll get use to driving a superior handling car and will have difficulty in the future when trying to drive a lesser car.
