Replacing DX Cluster with an EXA-1Performance 08-23-2003, 07:32 PM My friend has a Civic EX cluster and I was wondering if I can use it to replace the one on my DX. Are there any of you who have successfully made this change to your Civic CX,DX or LX? If this is possible, would i need any additional parts such as wires, etc...? Any other website link, step by step instructions and/or diagram(s) will be greatly appreciated. If you did you'd see that I've answered this question numerous times. Anyways here it goes....... As long as you're swapping in a cluster from the same gen it's all plug and play which means unplug your DX and plug in the EX one. I've swapped my EX one for a JDM Sir, my girl's 00 DX w/ a 00 Si cluster, and my boys 00 DX for a 00 EX cluster. On your car there are two screws in the cluster frame that you need to remove. Then you need to pop out the hazard switch with a flathead. There's a screw behind that that needs to be removed. You then unplug the hazard and the clock plug and pull the cluster/air vent assembly off. There are four screws that hold the cluster in place. Remove those then unplug the three plugs in the cluster. Plug them in the new cluster, replace everything else and there you have it. An oem tach. Nothing more is required other than simply plugging the new one in. The complete process shoult take at the most, 10 min. A-1Performance 08-23-2003, 08:07 PM no doubt but you kinda got me confused when you mentioned "replace everything else" Sorry about that.. I got you now. Thanks B16EJ1 08-23-2003, 08:13 PM Sorry, by " replace everything else " I meant put everything back be reversing the process. TyTy8383 08-24-2003, 01:18 PM can you replace a CX with a DX or EX?? VTEC Hey, when i'm searching online for an Instrument Cluster, they all say either for a standard or automatic transmission. Will there be any installation problem? There should be no problem but having the auto shift indicator on your 5-speed looks cheesy ass hell. TyTy8383 08-24-2003, 07:06 PM oooooooo Cosmetic differences, ok thanks (^_^)b A-1Performance 08-26-2003, 04:23 PM Replacement was successful. I was kinda getting worried when my signal wasn't working but as soon as I plugged in the hazards, everything was fine. One down side to all this is that the mileage reads over 200,000 kms where as my original reads 164,000 kms :shakehead SilverY2KCivic 08-26-2003, 08:20 PM oooooooo Cosmetic differences, ok thanks (^_^)b No, DX cluster has NO tach while the EX cluster HAS a tach.
