a few questions from a newbie..PSUdude19 08-23-2003, 02:58 PM totaled a p.o.s. 95 saturn and got a 98 civic EX to replace, not bad right? well ive got a few questions now.. tried to change the air fiter, and the guy told me the current filter in the car was for a VTEC engine, but as far as i can see, the engine is plain ol' regular. is it possible to put in a vtec filter like that? or is he just a guy who knows nothing? got me some nice new oil for it...alright lame question. how many quarts does it take? if/when i get the intake for it, would it be a pain to install it myself? or should i go to get a pro to do it and hand over the dough? whats the deal with the lock for the trunk near the little gas flip-switch? it doesn't lock anything as far as i can tell, maybe it just doesnt work, or am i trying to lock the wrong thing? thnx for the help...preciate it. Ricochet 08-23-2003, 03:06 PM vtec air filter??? I think he just meant it's for the EX not a DX. The EX engine does have vtec, even though it's hardly noticable at all, and the DX doesn't. The stock intakes are routed differently from eachother so that's probably what he meant. A cold air intake is easy if you know how to work a screwdriver. Your car takes a little under 4 quarts (it's in your manual) I think the lock is for you gas tank but I have a DX body, which didn't come with one, so I don't know... I'm sure that's in your manual also though. VTEC has nothing to do with the type of intake. It has to do with the intake manifold design so yes Ricochet is right Pay for an intake install??? Do you pay people to scratch your ass??? It's that easy. The lock, locks the lever to pop your trunk. If someone breaks into your car, they can't use the lever to pop your trunk open and steal whatever crap you got in there. PSUdude19 08-23-2003, 03:42 PM good deal...its at times like these im glad all your cars kick mine's ass otherwise id be screwed. thanks fer the help esp 08-23-2003, 03:46 PM The lock, locks the lever to pop your trunk. Jas_M 08-23-2003, 04:33 PM If thieves want something from your car bad enough, they'll get in. My dad just had a nice Alpine stereo stolen from his car the other night. Granted, he didn't have any kind of security system, just the factory stuff. But nevertheless, it was parked right in front of the house, and no one noticed a thing. Whoever snatched it knew exactly what they were doing because the interior and exterior were all in perfect shape. esp 08-23-2003, 04:37 PM If thieves want something from your car bad enough, they'll get in. That may be but that is the function of it. He did'nt ask if it was fool proof. He asked what it did. esp 08-23-2003, 05:33 PM i know i was just stating the fact that if you have something in your trunk it can be taken easily because the lock on the lever really sucks. I've been there also and I know what you mean. If you put your faith in any type of lock then expect to get shit stolen. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
