CAVALIER VS. SUNFIRE once and for all...clubcav_com 08-22-2003, 01:42 AM I just want to know...what are the differences (besides body style) for the Cavaliers and Sunfires?? Let's get this straight once and for all! =============== Moderator www.ClubCav.com Cavalier Forums b16rex 08-22-2003, 02:09 AM there really aren't any besides teh body....same engine Tinytim12333 08-22-2003, 02:52 AM Not always the same engine. The 89-90 Bird turbos had a 2.0 turbo engine and also a 2.2 and a 2.8 engine. The cavs had no turbo engine. Its mostly different but allthe same at once. The old ones are almost exactly the same, the new ones are a lot different. SpyhunterlV 08-22-2003, 05:07 PM from 1995 to present... they are the exact same cars under the skin... only differences are the interiors and exteriors cavalier2003 08-29-2003, 02:30 PM difference is sunfires look gay compared to cavalier sweetwhiteCAV 08-29-2003, 02:34 PM same shit, different bag... fastz4u 09-18-2003, 02:58 PM I really think it's quite clear what the difference is.....Aside from the body's and interior's being different.....Cavalier's are The shit.... sunfire's...they ain't got shit.....I have a 98 z-24, all i got done is Cold air, exaust and and front and rear strut tower bar's.....This other guy i know has a 99 sunfire gt with the same everthing i have plus he put the hypertech on his and boosted his horse buy something like 25 or something....We lined up a while back....Needless to say...I waxed his ass... I have never been beat by Any sunfire....and the day it happen's i will be amazed! clubcav_com 09-19-2003, 01:10 PM what about suspension-wise?? Moderator www.ClubCav.com Cavalier forums and photo albums www.ClubCav.com fastz4u 09-19-2003, 08:25 PM There body style's and interior's are the ONLY difference....The car's are built on the same chassis...everthing is the same....EVERYTHING!!!! :banghead: krebs128 09-23-2003, 11:31 PM well it obviously looks like pontiact went wrong somewhere-same car but cavaliers smoke it :grinyes: giftednimrod 09-29-2003, 04:34 PM wow, they are the same car same engine same everything, cavaliers dont smoke sunfires, the only way that would be possible 100% of the time was if neither car had any mods but one was a stanard and one was an automatic.. standard cars will always win when u have the same exact thing. My friend has a sunfire and its pretty lightweight which helps it with acceleration as well. My friend has a 99 gt with whole factory exhaust gone (from headers to muffler) and an air intake and he has fucked up some poeple with cars with much bigger engines only becuase he knows how to race and shift correctly. fastz4u 09-29-2003, 08:31 PM DOn't ask why but...your wrong Cav's are faster out of the factory....No body know's why...Same drivetrain.....But the cav's are a second faster in the 1/4 stock same person driving...Trust me they tested them in 99. RidgeRunner 10-01-2003, 09:12 PM Not always the same engine. The 89-90 Bird turbos had a 2.0 turbo engine and also a 2.2 and a 2.8 engine. The cavs had no turbo engine. Its mostly different but allthe same at once. The old ones are almost exactly the same, the new ones are a lot different. Actually, I don't recall ever seeing a 2.8 (factory) Sunbird. The Sunbirds and other J-cars used an OHC engine as their base engine whereas the Cav got an OHV. Some were turbocharged up through 1990, and in 1991 the Sunbirds finally started getting the 3.1L V6. The Sunbird kept the 2.0 OHC as its base engine until the 3rd generation redesign in 1995, after which it got the 2.2 OHV. Since then, they've been the same. If you've run against a Sunbird with a Cav and won, either they weren't optioned the same (difference in power, transmission, or weight?), it could be a factory freak versus a factory dog, or the other guy just can't drive. fastz4u 10-02-2003, 11:20 PM What are u talking about.....SunFire....Not sunbird..Get it right :banghead: RidgeRunner 10-03-2003, 12:15 AM Eh, same platform, different years. Sunbird from 1982 to 1994, Sunfire from 1995 to present. :D fastz4u 10-03-2003, 01:17 PM Sunbird's and sunfire's are nothing alike.....I owned both :nono: RidgeRunner 10-03-2003, 01:52 PM Same platform, just different generations. So of course there's going to be significant differences. fastz4u 10-03-2003, 07:17 PM Hey whatever.....The post was cavalier vs sunfire ...so why the hell are we talking about sunbird's...there as shitty as sunfire's... :iceslolan RidgeRunner 10-03-2003, 11:02 PM Eh, I dunno why. Point remains, they're all J cars, and other than styling, they're essentially identical as far as I'm concerned. :) :2cents: fastz4u 10-03-2003, 11:30 PM ya i guess....True Enough... Stanton918 10-05-2003, 06:25 PM There are a couple of GT and Z24 Trannys on EBAY.... ITEM #'s 2436151141 and 2436153031........Just a heads up, if someone is looking for one. fastz4u 10-06-2003, 07:21 PM Thank's Man I really need one of those... Stanton918 10-07-2003, 08:36 AM He is actually asking a very generous buy now price, you may want to jump on that. :2cents: blu03cav 01-09-2004, 04:04 PM Some times you can have two cars that are the same but its just could be that chevy put one diff thing on the car that could offset the race. I have a 2003 cav and its an auto. I have race 3 sunfires and one was a 5-speed. I killed the two and won only by 2-3 meters when i raced the 5-speed every time the lose ... sorry to tell ya C_Sephiroth 01-09-2004, 08:11 PM There was a turbo Cavalier. Not many were built. It was a 3300 engine, Turbocharge. I think they made it around 91 92 93 94 era vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
