Changing Idleloesch8102 08-21-2003, 10:36 PM My friend just bought a 94 Civic EX and the idle seems a little low. How do you change the idle? Thanks 94civic 08-21-2003, 11:34 PM there is a flat head screw on the throttle body. just play around with it until you get the idle to where you want it. A quick heads up counter clockwise decreases the RPM idel while turning it clockwise increases it, just a quick FYI. I would like to raise my idle up a lil also because my car tends to shut off with the ac on at times.. ohh and does anyone here ever get alot of hesitation and power loss with their ac turned on? Im serious.. sometimes it shuts off or hesitates ALOT to even move! backing out of a parking space slowly then it wants to die... BullShifter 08-22-2003, 09:23 PM You could have further problems than a low idle, possibly bad Fast Idle Control Solenoid Valve. The EACV is located on the back of the intake manifold - circular - couple inches long - with a plastic connector on the end. Also reset the ECU before adjusting. shmaptoe 08-22-2003, 10:19 PM at normal operating temperature, unplug the iacv wire harness and turn the adjusting screw accordingly to raise idle - i think its counterclockwise. then plug in the wire harness again. i got code 14 for iacv after ichanged mine, so i reccommend resetting the ecu after changing the idle.. ( unplug the 7.5a back up fuse for a few min to reset ecu) R3DL1N3x5000 08-23-2003, 08:38 PM is having an idle lower than 1000 bad? 94civic 08-23-2003, 09:12 PM the idle is supposed to be around 750-850 rpms. BullShifter 08-23-2003, 09:45 PM The only time the idle should be above 1,000rpm's is a cold start - then it should rev about 1,500rpm. Idle should be set to the spec's for your engine. There is a sticker underhood with that info. If not contact your local Honda Dealer's service department & they should be able to tell you. With headlights/radio/ac/etc the idle should rise slightly about 50-75rpm vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
