Your favorite car ever from each of these countries:zackiedawg 08-19-2003, 12:43 PM There have been alot of 'best car ever' and 'favorite car' threads, but opinions often get tangled over whether or not an Italian car is the best, or a German, or Japanese, American, etc. So let's try a new question: What is your ONE favorite car, current model or historical, to come from each of these countries: England France Germany Italy Japan United States I have left out those countries with a smaller import range, single model, low production, or too-recent history of manufacture. If you feel the need to add one, like Czech Republic, Spain, Korea, Australia, Ireland, Russia, etc...then go ahead. Here are my picks to start it off: England - 1961 Jaguar XKE E-Type Roadster http://www.web-cars.com/e-type/97-3as.JPG France - 1967 Renault Alpine A110 http://www.tuningpt.com/carrosemana/alpine/Martin.jpg Germany - 1955 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing http://www.ritzsite.net/300SL/1955_Mercedes_300_SL_Coupe_f3q_1.jpg Italy - 1962 Ferrari 250GTO http://www.qv500.com/Ferrari%20250%20GTO%20P1%204.jpg Japan - Toyota 2000GT http://www.ies-geneve.ch/2000gt/Photos/Divers/pic_006.jpg United States - 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88 427 http://www.fast-autos.net/chevrolet/67corvettel88.jpg LET'S HEAR (OR SEE) YOURS! carkid22 08-19-2003, 06:53 PM England- no fav. France- no fav. Germany- 2005 Benz SLR McLaren Italy- no fav. Japan- Toyota Supra TT USA- Saleen S7 Jimster 08-20-2003, 02:36 AM France- Renault R5 Turbo Germany- BMW E34 M5 US of A- Dodge Viper SRT-10 England- Aston Martin V8 Vantage Italy- Ferrari 250LM Japan- Nissan Skyline R34 GTR m3mark 08-20-2003, 03:27 AM USA- Corvette Z06 Germany- MercedesBenz AMG SL55 Japan- Toyota Supra TT Italy- Ferrari F-40 England- Aston Martin DB7 France- Not a fan of the French Jetts 08-20-2003, 03:43 AM england - that new expensive ass jag like 150k cant remember the name germany - bmw m3 Japan - 180sx Italy - ferrari f50 france - dont know many french cars usa - probally rousche stage 3 mustang 2strokebloke 08-20-2003, 01:04 PM England: Wolesley (most any of them, for the illuminated front badge :)) France: Renault 4cv Germany: DKW and relatives (too hard to choose just one) Italy: Fiat 600 Japan: Subaru 360 United States: 1903 Cadillac single cylinder "run-about" Hudson 08-20-2003, 02:28 PM Of cars I've driven: England - Jaguar XJR or Bentley Continental T France - I can't think of any French cars I've driven! I am looking for a Renault GTA (technically, American), though. Germany - new Audi S4 Italy - Alfa Romeo 164S 5-speed Japan - Infiniti G35 or Infiniti Q45a (as long as someone else is paying for any repairs on the Q45a) or Subaru WRX STi or Mazda RX7 (third generation), or Honda S2000 United States - Corvette coupe or Z06 Cars, in theory, to add to my collection: England - MGTF, McLaren F1 (why not?), FWD Lotus Elan, Caterham Super Seven and/or 21, Aston Martin Virage sedan or shooting brake France - Bugatti Royale or Type 57, Talbot Lago Germany - Mercedes-Benz SSK, 500K, or 300SL gullwing Italy - Lamborghini Miura, Ferrari 456 sedan or estate, Maserati Quattroporte (and generation), deTomaso Deauville or Beauchamps Japan - Toyota 2000GT, Mazda RX7 (third generation) United States - Duesenberg (any model), Cord (any model), Packard (selected models), Chrysler Town & Country (first generation convertibles), Lincoln Mark II or Mark III, 1974 Bricklin 4-speed (technically, Canadian) zackiedawg 08-20-2003, 04:00 PM Alot of newer cars popping up on the list! Also, surprising not too many French cars are known! With a history of Peugeots, Citroeans, Renaults, Bugattis, Talbot Lagos, Delahayes, and more...they's been making cars for more than 100 years! I strongly considered going with the Bugatti Atlantique, or the Talbot Lagos for my French pick...but I couldn't help picking the Renault A110...even though it isn't worth as much, just the fun driveability, the great rally history, and the relative rareness on US roads...makes me want one really badly! The Muira was a very close call for me for Italy. I still think it is likely the most gorgeous car to come from Italy. But the 250GTO won for me by merit of pure value, rareness, and race history. 2strokebloke: 1 cylinder Caddy runabout? I know you like the 2-strokers...but I didn't see that one coming. I figured you'd give props to America's smallest car from the past 60 years...the Nash Metropolitan!! Oh, and the Fiat 600...isn't that a little too 'common' for a two-stroke expert such as yourself? How about a nice Vespa 400?: http://www.captainjakes.com/micro02/MicroRU02_Vespa400_6_th.jpg DKWs are pretty nice...3-cylinder 2-strokers and nice aerodynamic designs. But do you have no love for the Messerschmidts?! ;) kfoote 08-25-2003, 04:54 PM England: McLaren F1 GTR LM France: Renault Espace F1 Germany: Porsche 959 Italy: Ferrari F40 Japan: Nissan Skyline R34 United States: Saleen S7 agh2 08-26-2003, 05:53 AM England- McLaren F1 France- Don't like French cars especially USA- Saleen S7 or Ford Mustang (can't decide) Germany- Porsche Carrera GT Italy- It's between all Ferrari's and all Lamborghini's (can't decide) Japan- The good old Skyline :worshippy omicron 08-26-2003, 07:20 AM England = Aston Martin v8 vantage France = Bugatti 16-4 Germany = Porsche Carrera GT Italy = Ferrari 360 modena Japan = Nissan 300zx/Skyline r34 United States = Chevy Corvette/Dodge Viper gnasha 08-26-2003, 07:41 AM England = Aston Martin DB5 France = Citroen DS Germany = Porsche 911 (996) GT2 Italy = Ferrari F40 Japan = Toyota landcruiser mark 1 United States = Dodge Charger agh2 08-26-2003, 07:47 AM Buggati are french? gnasha 08-26-2003, 08:08 AM Buggati are french? Though, as most already know, Bugatti is owned by Volkswagen Auto Group. The new Veyron is powered by a W16 powerplant (A bigger relative of MY car's engine!) with 4 turbochargers (something I distinctly do not have on my engine. :disappoin ) Hopefully, it will retain some of the spirit of the originals...unlike the maligned and not very loved EB series from a decade or so ago. zackiedawg 08-26-2003, 02:31 PM Speaking of those much loved Ferraris...look what pulled into my neighborhood a few days after I posted this thread: http://www.funtigo.com/go/h1288743?i=h1288743_79192.jpg http://www.funtigo.com/go/h1288742?i=h1288742_25185.jpg A neighbor down the street, a big-time Tifosi, added it to his collection, which also includes this: http://pstr-m05.ygpweb.aol.com/data2/00F/50/86/C6/C1/a3Yy60PHP5LtK8VlEmS43LrZsrNuXbxB0180.jpg http://pstr-m03.ygpweb.aol.com/data2/009/09/B4/0D/EC/AvXalWzI7qm3p55spvgHjs6AkjsD5y0c0180.jpg There's 2 of the cars that have made people's favorite lists...in one garage (joining 2 360s, a 360 Challenge race car, a Lamborghini, a Cayenne, and a few other day-to-day cars). Must be nice! gnasha 08-26-2003, 05:09 PM Are u sure your adress is not... heaven? Did u know that the propbability to see one on the road is next to none. You should go right now to the nearest shop and play lottery. zackiedawg 08-26-2003, 06:40 PM Well, this may sound ridiculous... but there are a total of 3 Enzos in Boca Raton now. This was the first delivered out of Shelton Ferrari in Fort Lauderdale...two others were purchased at The Collection in Miami. With at least two known in Miami...that makes 5 Enzos on the road in southern Florida. At the last Cavallino Classic in Palm Beach, there were 8 F40s on display, of which 3 were local owners (including this neighbor). This is a VERY rich town...Murcielagos and Aston Martins are not that rare around here, believe it or not. True...except maybe the Enzo (both in rarity and in performance). Though there are three of them here...they are still pretty darn rare in the world. Still, if you came down here in an R34 GT-R, you'd get my attention!
