f**king pigscivicuser 08-17-2003, 03:26 PM last night my buddy and i were driving in rogers and i saw a mustang so i decided to race. it was only a v6 w/o cattys so i thought i might give it a try so i put it into 2nd going about 45 and took off. i was keeping up with him for a while until my friend called me on my cell and told me a cop passed him. (my friend was way behind me) so i took the next turn and got the hell outta there. i drove through some buisiness parking lots and hid behind a warehouse building. but he found me. he slapped me with a ticket but said i was this close to going to jail but i had a good attitude so he just left me with a ticket. i was wondering if anyone here had any advice as to lowering the cost of insurance in any way. my dad said i could go to defensive drivers course again and lower my insurance little bit. any word from you guys? p.s. - keep it for the track :banghead: BullShifter 08-17-2003, 08:33 PM Thats why you race where its legal & no stupid asses in mini vans can pull out from no where. :grinno: BlkCamaroSS 08-17-2003, 09:18 PM You gonna get it fixed??? If you get it fixed, and the insurance company doesn't know about it, how can your rates go up??? KoRnboy 08-17-2003, 09:39 PM Damn dude, umm well first, get a Radar dectector, then read some law books. Worked for me, but then again I knew the judge so I didn't have to use it. I got off as if it never happend :bigthumb: KrNxRaCer00 08-18-2003, 01:57 AM sorry to hear bout that buddy. i gotta go w/ them an say TRY to keep most of it at the track. yes, i race some too, but the track is by far the best place to run it. good luck w/ the ticket, the LEAST that'll happen is that u can get it reduced. BlkCamaroSS 08-18-2003, 09:09 AM Looking back at this again, I just had a friend of mine put his 3rd Gen TA through a tree while racing. He's okay, and the car is fixable, but it was avoidable. Such a hard thing to avoid when it's so fun to street race... tenguzero 08-20-2003, 02:38 PM I've been lucky in that the only two tickets i've recieved were for dumb stuff like semi-nodding off coming home on the highway from school after a long day- 85 in a 65 (but he wrote it down as 83 to keep me from stepping up the next level.) Thankfully, on the occasions when I DO intentionally speed (over 90 mph) I didn't get tagged (knock on wood.) Every time I tell myself I won't do it again, but eventually, Dr. Jekyll yields the wheel to Mr. Hyde, and it's almost like I CAN'T stop myself- something about a screaming engine and racing heartbeat. To my credit, I only do those kind of speeds when it's late at night (93 northbound between Tilton and Bristol NH is DEAD at 11:30 at night.) So, the only person really at risk is myself :disappoin I think what makes the open road so appealing, is the variables- turns, hills, and scenery encroaching on the road to whizz by. I suppose the predictability of the track is just more, well, predictable. civicgsr_T4_60-1 08-21-2003, 01:33 PM sucks for you, upset and calling the police pigs because you got a ticket for speeding :shakehead kidrocket 08-21-2003, 01:38 PM sucks for you, upset and calling the police pigs because you got a ticket for speeding :shakehead indeed. i deserved 80 percent of the speeding tickets ive received, and i dont feel bitter about a one of them. the only times ive felt bitter about being pulled over are when they pull me over and search my car for no reason Mustang01GT 08-21-2003, 03:02 PM is it true that they confiscate your car for street racing sometimes? and if so, permenantly or just for a while? civicgsr_T4_60-1 08-21-2003, 03:31 PM is it true that they confiscate your car for street racing sometimes? and if so, permenantly or just for a while? They can, I know around here if your car gets confiscated, it goes to auction. JLB87 08-25-2003, 01:09 AM Did the guy driving the stang get pulled over? I would think he did cause stangs are cop magnets. :grinyes: jamie_604 08-25-2003, 03:34 AM Yeah, I don't buy into that whole "cops are pigs" deal. I've seen too many racers on the local news doing damage to themselves and killing a few bystanders in the process. I understand the need for speed but keep it legal and on the track and don't bitch if you get your hand slapped. It's the few jackasses with too much hp that give racers a bad name, just like the few hard ons with badges that give cops a bad name. kidrocket 08-25-2003, 10:36 AM Yeah, I don't buy into that whole "cops are pigs" deal. And as long as you do it right, well organized (with safety in mind), and with a select group of people, i don't see too much wrong with it. KoRnboy 08-26-2003, 11:40 AM Too bad the police couldn't just close of a few streets on friday or saturday nights for racing... :sunglasse Bambooseven 08-26-2003, 12:40 PM the police can't but you can,it's easier on a tuesday or wednesday though. KoRnboy 08-26-2003, 12:44 PM Yeah but if someone took it upon themself to close off a street or two, wouldn't that be illegal just by itself? Bambooseven 08-26-2003, 12:49 PM wouldn't that be illegal just by itself? It's illegal to street race nomatter how you go about it, might as well do it safely right? I mean lots of things are illegal, that header you've prolly got in your car is illegal, you still have it in there though right? (I know you might not have a header in which case just assume you did and apply that last sentance accordingly) KoRnboy 08-26-2003, 12:52 PM Click the link buddy :evillol: Down here :smokin: My Baby (http://www.cardomain.com/id/skorn179) But yeah it is, which is stupid, if you atleast put forth effort to make it safe, why not let you do it? If I die early I want it to be going 140MPH + atleast then if I wrap my car around a tree I'll die happy. :smokin: Bambooseven 08-26-2003, 01:07 PM nice car, i dig it vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
