Toyota Tundra V8 vs Corvette (racing story)2of9 08-16-2003, 03:09 AM yep, a Toyota Tundra V8, a truck against a vette both V8. i wasnt driving, my big brother was. We pull up to this V8 Vette, the 1999+ Vettes. We were on our way to drop off my cuzin and lives in the middle of now where and this road is perfectly straight for 5 miles with a stoplight, and this vette pulls up to us. light turns green and he revs it, we didnt think he would take it seriously. The back wheels burn out on the vette, we had a low launch bcuz we thought he wasnt goin to race us. So my brother revs the Tundra V8 engine hard, i could see and hear the vette had clutched to 2nd and kept going, by this time, i think we were going 90-100 mph. Our Speedo said 110 for topspeed, but i think we went 120, this truck is a rear-wheel drive, no all wheel drive. VRRROOOOMM, we pass him. First ever vette kill. We also have burnt ricers. This Toyota is one strong Toyota V8. Neutrino 08-16-2003, 04:33 AM :eek7: :eek7: :eek7: -The Stig- 08-16-2003, 04:42 AM V8 Vette huh?... Just be happy you didnt catch one of those slow V6 Vettes... :shakehead There hasn't been a Non-V8 Vette since '54... in '56 they dropped the L-6 and went all V8s. Anywho, I hope you're joking. :sly: Cause a Tundra beating a Vette... Right. :smooch: Neutrino 08-16-2003, 05:03 AM maybe it was one of those I4 vetts and his vtec did not kick in :uhoh: fatninja19 08-16-2003, 05:29 AM nah guys.. for reals.. v8 Tundra's take them LS1 vette's all the time.. Toyota's v8's are crazy fooooo's.. dont mess!!!! Tundras are so fast! Especially the ones with the TRD off road sticker! WHAT NOW!? Waveridr85 08-16-2003, 11:19 AM :banhim:.... BlkCamaroSS 08-16-2003, 11:53 AM Anything is possible, I beat a Koenigsegg the other day... http://www.polarisuk.com/video/auto/Koenigsegg.wmv speedthrill 08-16-2003, 04:22 PM Anything is possible, I beat a Koenigsegg the other day... http://www.polarisuk.com/video/auto/Koenigsegg.wmv that just became my wet dream, damn what a car! Cbass 08-16-2003, 07:43 PM Ok, so you're saying he sat there and smoked his tires while you launched easily, or are you saying he took you off the line and you passed him at 110mph once he had killed you and was braking? BlkCamaroSS 08-16-2003, 08:39 PM Yeah, that's my new favorite car of the week... :sunglasse carrrnuttt 08-16-2003, 09:22 PM Our Speedo said 110 for topspeed, but i think we went 120, this truck is a rear-wheel drive, no all wheel drive. VRRROOOOMM, we pass him. Sounds like a fly-by... 2000LS1Z28 08-16-2003, 10:01 PM That must be one horrible driver. I raced some guy's father's Tundra with my Z28. He didn't even get me on launch. I beat him by 6-7 car lengths (I gave up after I could barely see him in my rear view mirror). This story sounds like he just gave up. Cbass 08-16-2003, 10:30 PM Sounds like a fly-by... My thoughts exactly  Neutrino 08-17-2003, 02:31 AM Sounds like a fly-by... we have a winner  2of9 08-17-2003, 01:13 PM it wasnt a fly-by, we beat that vette. if u dont believe me, find some V8 Tundras and race them. Yesterday nite we raced a Civic HB (ricer) and killed him, and i think that will be our last race...i THINK Waveridr85 08-17-2003, 02:24 PM http://www.car-stats.com/stats/showstats/showstatsgivenid.aspx your car runs a 16.6 if your lucky, shut up and stop :grinno: -The Stig- 08-17-2003, 03:01 PM Sure you can beat some Ricer Civic HB... Thats alot different than some Vette. -The Stig- 08-17-2003, 03:28 PM Sure you can beat some Ricer Civic HB... Thats alot different than some Vette. Ok, Maybe a Chevette. carrrnuttt 08-17-2003, 03:28 PM As a matter of fact, I HAVE raced and BEAT a Toyota Tundra V8... ...with my 1990 Integra GS... ...when it was mostly stock... Intake/exhaust 1990 Integra GS > Corvette? :screwy: Frozenblue**WS6 08-17-2003, 09:29 PM i don't know.... civic h/b is a fast car.... i left one behind when i was racing him in my wrx... later i asked him what happened, and he said his tires just wouldn't stop spinning... way too much torque i guess.. :smokin: :shakehead DeViL 08-17-2003, 09:45 PM You all are stupid obviously this was his Tundra. http://www.toyota.com/motorsports/images/global/main/dash_section.jpg -The Stig- 08-17-2003, 09:53 PM You all are stupid obviously this was his Tundra. http://www.toyota.com/motorsports/images/global/main/dash_section.jpg Yeah... powered by an american motor. Truely it is, Toyota is just paying the bill. carrrnuttt 08-17-2003, 10:06 PM Yeah... powered by an american motor. Truely it is, Toyota is just paying the bill. Yeah, because the stupid rules disallow Toyota's "high-tech" V8's:flipa:. -The Stig- 08-17-2003, 10:10 PM Yeah, because the stupid rules disallow Toyota's "high-tech" V8's:flipa:. Not my problem. :loser: Doesn't matter any ways, they're limited to the amount of power they can produce for safety reasons. Also, Toyota doesn't want to spend the money to develope a motor just for this type of racing. They'd rather spend the money else where. They'll spend a few seasons here in the Sears Craftsman Truck series, then move onto NASCAR. I've known they were going into the Truck series since two years ago. I'm good friends with one of the guys who works at TRD and used to build the F1 motors. Now he works with various other projects at TRD. So, that tundra has an american engine inside of it?? sorry, i dunno much about those Truck racing DeViL 08-18-2003, 12:45 AM Yeah, because the stupid rules disallow Toyota's "high-tech" V8's Let me guess Toyota wanted to use dohc? student_anonymous 08-18-2003, 12:56 AM Sounds fishy to me... Gotta be a fly by, i won't even read the rest of the comments. If you've got a V8 Tundra that can smoke a Corvette, then i've got some ocean-side property in Arizona to sell you! If you make it to my city, look me up and i'll run against you myself! :naughty: Neutrino 08-18-2003, 01:04 AM Sounds fishy to me... i've got some ocean-side property in Arizona to sell you! hey Luthor long time no see  -Josh- 08-20-2003, 07:59 AM yep, a Toyota Tundra V8, a truck against a vette both V8. i wasnt driving, my big brother was. Nice, cbass. I'm with you. Why do people insist on racing their pickup trucks? I'm not talkin pro level here. I'm more or less talking about the bigass Ford F150s all stock with 24" rims and NOS in the cabin. We've got a word for those around here... They're called deathboxes. I just don't get that obcession. They go around and try to race Civics and shit and it's like wtf are you thinking. It's a 4banger verses an engine twice that size... I mean seriously... It is my personal belief that trucks should be used for mudding and cars should be used for racing. ut that's just me. The Corvette was doing 120 in second gear? You were able to zoom past a 120MPH vehicle that was in second gear... in a truck with 0 aerodynamics??? Clarify. RACER D12 08-20-2003, 06:05 PM I need some more info man. J_Swigz 08-20-2003, 11:35 PM yep, a Toyota Tundra V8, a truck against a vette both V8. i wasnt driving, my big brother was. DeViL 08-21-2003, 02:14 AM I'm telling you this is what he drives why don't you understand that??? It has a 2,000hp V8 made from two honda 4-cylinders that were stuck together with superglue. And its equipped H-TEC, new thing out you can only get it from japan. Its like a supercharger, but hampsterfied. Hampsters are also used as pistons because using real pistons are too inefficient. http://www.toyota.com/motorsports/images/global/main/dash_section.jpg But uh yeah don't V8 Tundras have 240hp? BlkCamaroSS 08-25-2003, 05:28 PM My point exactly, him beating a Corvette is like me beating a Koenigsegg, just not gonna happen unless a tree was in the other guys lane... J_Swigz 08-25-2003, 06:16 PM ....unless a tree was in the other guys lane... Or he's just making a bullshit story because he thought he could get away with it . I agree with all said, and DeVil, you may be right, I think that might be his truck, seeing as he DID win the "race" speeder94 08-27-2003, 06:35 PM doctors this man has :screwy: problem and just so you know iraced my z71 tock against a tundra v8 and beat it by like 4 carlenghts when it didnt havv e a supercharger.now i cant even beat camaro how are you going to beat corvette :screwy: :screwy: :screwy: :screwy: :screwy: :loser: erricer 08-27-2003, 06:44 PM He's telling the truth. Tundra's beat my v8 vette all the time, even with my zz4 crate! YogsVR4 08-27-2003, 06:50 PM There is always that one in a billion chance that the driver of the vette bogged down after he got started, missed a shift, then put it in 6th from second and forgot to take his foot off the clutch while slowing down for a pothole he wanted to avoid. Then the Tundra might end up ahead. Beyond that, unless it was a 84 vette with a no-legged man behind the wheel - no chance at all. -Josh- 08-27-2003, 06:52 PM This thread isn't closed yet.... I figured the guy would be banned and this thread completely destroyed by now...sheeessh carrrnuttt 08-27-2003, 07:03 PM This thread isn't closed yet.... Now why didn't I think of that? :banghead: Oh well, it's a mistake I can fix... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
