Progress report: Nissan 350Z GT-RVeyron 08-16-2003, 12:44 AM Seems like everybody has their version of this car, here's mine. This is one I started months ago, getting it ready for a show in November. My original idea was to make a Nissan factory concept 350Z GT-R as per my art work. I will probably still do that but I have some other idea's too. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/856866350zplan.JPG I cut the lower center of the 350Z front end out and molded in a Skyline GT-R front end. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/686514350front.JPG I also used the rear lower aerodynamic piece from the Skyline. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/483232350back.JPG I added styrene as fender flares and molded them in along with side skirts. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/540283350frontside.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/186986350side.JPG It will have an SAS hood installed too. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/296109350top.JPG tazdev 08-16-2003, 01:32 AM can't wait to see the progress on this one. I've noticed that some skyline front have the potential to mate up very well with the Z. The front from the R33 GTR LM kit would work very well, worth someone trying out. Rtuned 08-16-2003, 03:55 PM Love the wide fenders...looking forward to more picts!!!! Rtuned :icon16: chaos 08-16-2003, 04:36 PM This looks like one cool project! Keep us posted!!! Veyron 08-24-2003, 05:13 PM Been working hard on the Z this weekend! Got the SAS hood installed, more smoothing done, exhaust tunnels done, fender panel lines rescribed and a coat of Dupont Variprime to see what's left to do. The primer reveal some spot putty work needs to be done and some smoothing here and there, shouldn't be long now. These will probably be the wheels which are 19" form the Tamiya Volvo BTCC sedan, set behind wide trim rings. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/809045350zp1.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/941564350zp2.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/613173350zp3.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/141848350zp4.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/529283350zp5.JPG [ c e l s i o r ] 08-24-2003, 05:17 PM damn it's looking awesome, i love the rims. can't wait to see it finished :) makes me wanna build a 350Z too. must.........resist........buying.......more...... .kits............. hehehe Carrera RS 08-24-2003, 05:21 PM Funny! RS sideshowrich 08-24-2003, 05:22 PM Wow, that is one killer model! That would look hot on a real 350Z. Desi Z 07 08-24-2003, 05:28 PM Ive loved the 350 Z ever since the first time i saw it, and i always thought that it always looked best when left alone with no modding, and i didnt like all the modifications ive seen, but if i saw this on a real Z, itd be a whole different story, this is one amazing looking z... good job... willimo 08-24-2003, 05:33 PM I love it! If I had the putty throwing skillz, I'd copy that for sure. Looks fantastic! Love the rims on it, too. I am loving it especially when it is one of my favorite cars!!! flyonthewall 08-24-2003, 06:57 PM Great progress. I personally would have like to have the the side skirt as a seperate piece and not molded into the front and rear. But its your model! Murray Kish 08-24-2003, 07:36 PM Veyron, that is one of the nicest I've ever seen. It's gonna be a killer when it's done!! Absolutely amazing. You definitely have an 'eye' for this stuff... Veyron 08-30-2003, 07:37 AM Almost ready for paint? Scribed lines to make the side skirt look like a seperate part, per Fly's suggestion. Also chose different wheel rings which have fasteners around them. Thanks for all the comments so far, you guys are keeping me motivated to finish! :grinyes: http://infinite1der.org/~dino/350z6.JPG tazdev 08-30-2003, 07:50 AM much better. Shes coming along nicely flyonthewall 08-30-2003, 08:51 AM I think those lines make all the difference, very nice indeed. I like what you have done with the trim rings from the 19"s, it looks like you have reduced the depth of the front one, something i've thought about doing but not had the chance to do yet. What rims are those btw? Veyron 08-30-2003, 09:19 AM I think those lines make all the difference, very nice indeed. I like what you have done with the trim rings from the 19"s, it looks like you have reduced the depth of the front one, something i've thought about doing but not had the chance to do yet. What rims are those btw? Thanks! The front ones aren't narrower in this picture, the car is so wide that it will wear four back tyres from the Tamiya F50. The chassis is under the car in this pic and as you can see, plenty of room for the massive tyres. :grinyes: bigfrit 08-30-2003, 10:47 AM Holy cow! Gorgeous, fabulous... just superlatively good! Well, I love this build up, but I m not a big fan of the car itself, but this is just from another world! such a huge task and yet , so well finished! Well, I think I will stop my post here, because otherwise the server is too busy again , and it eats my post (again... ) But you know what I think of it , right? If so, FINISH IT ! Veyron 09-12-2003, 06:20 PM Got the base coats of Tamiya Brilliant Orange on, it's a lot brighter in person! I really love it. I especially love it since I don't have to decide which rims to use... I'd never be able to make that call. You should put a different pair on each side.... They both look great! SpoonMan Dos 09-13-2003, 06:06 PM I am at a loss for words. :eek7: This is going to be a killer street car. spoolin12 09-13-2003, 07:27 PM Ooooohh Aaahhhhh!!!!! :iagree: just amazing....... :shakehead I rather the other wheels alot more tho :licka: Wicked work! :grinyes: z33guy 09-14-2003, 02:06 PM i like that color, its like datsun 240 orange :sunglasse Valentino 09-14-2003, 04:42 PM Can't wait. looks amazing so far  jgmodelcars 09-18-2003, 02:32 AM wow that is an amazing Z i am now impatiently awaiting this cars finish!! either set of wheels looks cool in my opinion! keep up the excellent work!:iceslolan Veyron 09-18-2003, 08:41 AM Thanks! I'd have to say if you did it like nissan factory show car, use the deep dish R34 rims and put that butterscotch pearl over it. Veyron 10-25-2003, 10:09 AM Hello! Long time no see! Not as far along as I'd like to be, but you guys keep me more motivated than you know. The interior is finished, I used Modeler's seat belts, SMS decals for seat inserts, and Studio 27 etched bits like speakers. I accented with Testors aluminum metalizer and made the shifter from a straight pen. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/40503Zinterior1.JPG Still have to polish and trim the body, the pearl coats are on and final clear. Since you can see so much through the SAS hood scoop, I'm putting in the engine bay insert form a maisto diecast 350Z under the hood. I made clear tail light lenses by forming thermoform plastic over the kit lenses, going for the Altezza look here. The chassis is all painted in my on color scheme using Testors Metalizer's. The rear spoiler is from the Tamiya Clation GT-R LM, don't know if it will stay. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/40503Zchassisengine.JPG Hiroboy 10-25-2003, 10:18 AM Really Really nice.:smokin: Does that engine bay fit ? flyonthewall 10-25-2003, 10:22 AM Real nice touches.
