has anyone had experience with the msd6 offroad ignition control and/or rev limiter? and nology hotwires and denso iridium plugs? if so, i'd like to know how they perform and if they're compatible with my 2002 xterra se-s/c. thanks!

I have had experience with the MSD, but not in my Nissan. I used one in my CJ-7 mud racer for several years. Many people think that discharge systems increase hp, they do not. What they do improve is throttle response, making it feel like there is more hp. But if you dyno the vehicle you will find little to no change.

MSD systems and capacitance wires improve efficiency by firing the spark plug multiple times or increasing the current level flowing across the electrode of the plug to insure maximum fuel burn, thereby increasing efficiency of the burn. That is where the increased throttle response comes in. Because of the improved fuel burn, the motor will rev quicker and feel like it has more hp.

I would not recommend adding anything of that nature unless it is part of a bigger picture. When I built the CJ, I added a performance manifold, cam, carb, coil, distributor, etc. It was part of a total package as opposed to a stand-alone item. Hopefully this helps in your decision.

I can tell you Nology makes a set of wires for the Nissan VG-33E and the MSD is adaptable to the Nissan system. Denso I don't know about.
