pullys blowing out alternatorDCNo07 08-12-2003, 03:24 AM i hear that aftermarket pullys can blow out your alternator... anyone ever heard of that happening? DCNo07 08-14-2003, 08:35 AM i didnt want to have to make a new thread so ill just ask this here. i have a 97' GSR with only intake, when i start in first gear as im letting the clutch out their is a knocking noise that is comming from somewhere in the front of the car. it only knocks maybe once or twice.... kinda of hard to explain but i thought maybe it could be my axle my friend thinks its my transmission. its really hard to tell where its comming from since i cant go into first without the car moving. my car only has 38k miles on it .but if this has happned to anyone or they know where it could be comming from that would really help.. BullShifter 08-14-2003, 11:59 PM Yes under-drive pulleys can "blow" alternators. This happens because the alt. is spinning slower than needed, so the alt. becomes over worked. It usually isn't a problem unless your running lots of electrical stuff(systems, aftermarket lights, etc.) The nosie your hearing could be a CV joint popping - Click noise Could be trans. bearing noise Could be Clutch noise Could be Flywheel noise Suspension Could be a lot of things DCNo07 08-16-2003, 08:41 AM ya didnt really think someone could tell me what that knocking noise was, but it was worth a try......i guess..... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
