I need to know how you built your custom speedo that uses a electronic VSS input? Would you be willing to share that information with me? I have two things left I need to add the VSS and I am in need of a ELD if anyone has one for sale???? cvcc_wagon 10-17-2004, 09:28 PM this thread is over a year old and the original poster only has one post. probably not going to reply Figori 10-18-2004, 12:38 AM The site he needs is HERE (http://www.muller.net/sonny/crx/) . Have fun, and enjoy! lxndr 10-18-2004, 06:29 PM I know this is an old post, but it's a new question. So... There is an easier way to swap in a VSS (I know because I've already done this in preperation for my D16A1 swap). First of all there were two different suppliers that Honda used to manufacture their speedometers, Seiki and Denso. Try to use an HF speedo from the same manufacturer as yours, otherwise you will be doing exactly what was done in the link that Figori provided. If you use the same manufacturer you will be able to simply swap the HF speedo assembly right into your SI cluster without any modifications! Once you swap the speedo all that you will need to do is hook up one side to the ECU then attach the other side to the tachometer ground. That's it, all that you will need is a Haynes manual to tell you which terminal to plug the wire into on the ECU!!! You don't need to use the small plastic box that is attached to the shift light (or cruise control) because if you trace the VSS wiring through this box you will find that it simply goes in the box then right back out. The VSS is a magnetic pulser that changes the ohms in the curcuit, the computer then reads the ohms (pulses) and calculates vehicle speed. In essence, it works the same way that a pick-up works in an electric guitar. You can also use the internals from an '86-'89 Integra speedo, but since the Integra uses a different wheel height and transmission gear ratio the gauge will read way faster than you are actually going. USE THE CRX HF SPEEDO!!! (although I do have an extra Teg VSS if you want it) Figori 10-18-2004, 06:36 PM I guess I should start working on that now, especially since I plan on doing a b18/b16 head swap.... I just hope I can find an HF around my area... lxndr 10-18-2004, 06:52 PM P.S. I'm not sure what to do about your ELD (electronic load detector) problem. I would recommend that you pick up an ELD designed for the motor and wiring harness that you are using, although an ELD from an '88-'89 Integra might also work for you. The Integra ELD will bolt right onto the CRX firewall, will look stock and is a relatively simple installation. The only question is: will it be compatible with the ECU you're using? Try contacting Hasport (hasport.com) and see if they have any insight. lxndr 10-18-2004, 07:31 PM I guess I should start working on that now, especially since I plan on doing a b18/b16 head swap.... I just hope I can find an HF around my area... It seems that there are two things I should be collecting when I go to my favorite junk yard... SI heads and HF clusters, I see them all the time. robspec 11-14-2004, 11:07 PM I have performed the B16A swap in my 1986CrxSi.
