1995 Monte Carlo ABS Diagnositcssixpackbird 08-07-2003, 12:40 PM Does anyone know which scan tool should be used to check the ABS on a 1995 Monte Carlo Z34? I have an OBD 1 Scan Tool and it seems to check only the powertrain components and it states that there are no faults. The emission label states the car is OBD 1 compliant, however, Chiltons says the 3.4l engine is OBD 2, but the connector on the car is the OBD 1 connector. My yellow ABS light is on, and I'd like to figure out what is wrong. Is there a different ABS diagnositc connector other than the OBD 1 connector under the IP? Does the diagnosis require a different scan tool? Any advise on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. av8rdavid 11-30-2003, 03:43 AM Any idea what scan tool to use for ABS on a 95 Z34 monte? ABS light on and abs brakes inop.... HELP!!!!!!!!!!Winter is coming and that means snow!! muskoka00 01-14-2004, 03:59 PM Same problem with 3.1, can not find problem, all mechanical parts are OK. av8rdavid 01-14-2004, 06:07 PM A member of this forum e-mailed me important information reguards the abs system...Turns out the system can be scanned with a TECH II GM scan tool to check what and where in the system there is a failure which causes the light to remain ON thus shutting down the entire ABS feature. This tool is not cheap, you can't get one at JC whit. because the cost is aprox. $4000-$5000!!!! Thats why a dealer will charge you about 100 bux (a fraction of the cost of the tool its self) to scan your car. After the scan you'll be able to pinpoint where the problem is and what to replace/repair. Hope this helps!
