I am thinking of buying an used 1998 996. I have been told by Porsche users that 1998 was a bad production year(since it was the new model). The 1998 model had many problems. I should look into 2000 or beyond. I admitted that I cannot afford 2000.

There is nothing wrong with the 996 ona 98....... The 996 on the 97 was the first production release.. that had a few problems, after that, the 98 was fine. Same with the Boxster... 97 was great, via a few problems.. but on the 98, it was sorted. Go and get your 98 996.... dont let people on here put you off. ;) I own a 98 Boxster and a 99 996, both are great cars
