Hey, I just recently got a 1998 Honda Prelude (love it btw) and am working on the exterior first. I just ordered the lambo door conversion kit and will get pics of it as soon as I get those installed. Next is the body kit. I was looking at a Black Widow but will take any suggestions. I also like the R33 kit.

Now for the big topic

WHAT IS THE HEIGHT A CAR CAN BE TO CLEAR SPEEDBUMPS!

I need to get my car lowered if I am going to get a body kit installed. But I also need to be able to clear speedbumps. What is the recommended height a car should be to clear those stupd speedbumps.

There really is no set height to be able to clear speed bumps. Its all a matter of how high the spd bumps are around your normal driving routes. Also, if there are a lot of hills around where you live, it could also be a problem. You just gotta kinda feel it out.

My best suggestion would be to only drop about 1.5 inches if you got a real speed bump problem on your hands. I'm only droppin my Accord 1inch cuz I got a LOT of hills/bumps/humps/dips to deal with at school (stupid Tallahassee terrain:rolleyes: ). And my stock ride height is higher than your, plus I have no kit. But my case is a little extreme. Tallahassee FL has a ridiculous amount of uneven land.

he's right man. u cant really tell cuz there are different type of speed and road bumps. So you'll have to manage it the "ricer" way. Go slow on any kind of bumps and go all the way to the side slowly on dips.

Agreed...I've got mine dropped about 2" and I'm in Tampa, FL...I don't have to worry about hills and the like but for all dips, inclines, speed bumps, etc...I just take it really slow...

This you'll have to do none the less because you don't want to be hitting a speed bump at like 20 mph cause you'll bottom out...screw the body kit...you'll crush your eshaust and who know what to the bottom of the engine and the frame as well...

Just take 'er easy with any bump no matter how big or how small...

Better safe then screwed...

I am thinkin hes shittin you...I dont see how it could form itself back to original shape :confused:

I agree. I've never heard of anything warping itself into shape. When something warps, it loosens up and falls out of its original form, not the reverse. I dont see how a piece of fiberglass would bend back into shape unless he tried to ding it out with a hammer or sumthin

I actually think it might be ture...I was dating a girl who, when parking, hit a parking bump (the kind when they cut telephone poles down and use them in parking lots), and in about three days...and I guess with the Florida heat, it just popped back into it's original shape...not even a scratch or anything...nifty huh?

its all about ur terrain in your area, if u live in mexico u'd probly wanna "lift" ur car the speed bumps are SO huge

I preffer no body kit because im lovge with cars that sit belly on the ground.:biggrin:

heck yeah. Tell me about it, u dont even need the speed bumps to get the kit messed up. Personally, i would like to havee hydrolics, or air bags so i can keep my car low and lift it whenever i need to. Seen it on classic and new cars (most of em gangsta or racers)
