What do you all usually shift at, or try to any way?jeffseby 07-30-2003, 02:15 PM What do you all usually shift at, or try to any way. I usually go a 6,700 RPM Ricochet 07-30-2003, 02:43 PM Where's the 8400rpm vote? You should have listed the redlines for each engine... while cruising around I'll shift at 3-4k, while pushing it I'll take it to redline, 8400. candlaudio 07-30-2003, 06:03 PM same here if i had a redline of 8400, mine is only 6500 to 6700 so that is where i shift at if im doggin it. BullShifter 07-31-2003, 01:26 AM If you "usually" shift @ 6700rpm you gonna have some problems:bloated: jeffseby 07-31-2003, 11:24 AM ""Where's the 8400rpm vote? Ricochet 07-31-2003, 03:40 PM Looks like a nice admin sprinkled his fairy dust on your nice little poll  Jay! 07-31-2003, 03:50 PM lol... who's running an engine that spins at 10K+? Ricochet 07-31-2003, 04:19 PM Originally posted by jay@af lol... who's running an engine that spins at 10K+? ...AND still making power? esp 08-01-2003, 10:44 AM the auto owns joo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! j/k Melt 08-01-2003, 07:18 PM I USUALLY shift at 3500 to 4000 rpm for daily driving ... and at 6000 when racing ... most engines stop developing HP before redline (which is at 6500 on my car) BullShifter 08-02-2003, 12:47 AM Originally posted by jay@af lol... who's running an engine that spins at 10K+? that guy drives an IRL car or something . . . .Too bad we all cant Formula engines in our cars, 8,000RPM+/- IDLE & 20,000-23,000RPM redline:bigthumb: Ricochet 08-02-2003, 02:28 PM Originally posted by jackasssi that guy drives an IRL car or something . . . .Too bad we all cant Formula engines in our cars, 8,000RPM+/- IDLE & 20,000-23,000RPM redline:bigthumb: :eek2: BullShifter 08-02-2003, 02:58 PM :eek2: is right - couple years & those things will spinning @ 30,000RPM, good lord thats a lot of RPM's - slightly off topic but oh well AF needs spell checker:icon16: 94tegRS 08-02-2003, 09:35 PM I know a guy wiht a late 80's nissan truck and no fuel cut and hes taken it to 10K a couple times. but yeah, I shift at like 4-5 at leats when im cruising. but my redline is 6400 on tach, 7300 on computer and i think it is like 7800 on the engine, but I usually shioft at the 6400 cuz it just dont sound good to me when I get up to 7500. but my problem is like jackassi said, I USALLY shift at 6400 from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd, all day long, which is probably why in the 2 months or so Ive owned the car ive about ruined the engine, but it should be rebuilt soon, and then ill practice takingt it easy cuz when I got a 8k engine under the hood Im gonna have to learn to take it easy. 94tegRS 08-02-2003, 09:39 PM I just voted and saw the results, who does shift past 10K, or are you just playing. AtomAton 08-02-2003, 09:40 PM everyday driving 3-4, in a tight situation, 6.5 tops, but i dont race! kidrocket 08-07-2003, 01:23 PM Originally posted by Ricochet ...AND still making power? all the people on the board with ferraris and crotch rockets of course:bigthumb: Redrunner 08-07-2003, 01:53 PM wish I know damn DX and no RPM Gauge I do everything at 0 RPMs I guess I dont think my engine goes by RPMs or something LOL:dogpile: 100proof 08-08-2003, 03:30 PM daily driven- shift it at 3500rpm race shift- at 8000rpm at 4th gear shift at 8500rpm BLU CIVIC 08-08-2003, 03:33 PM i usually try and shift at....:uhoh: oh yeah I DON'T HAVE A TACH:sly: Brit6 08-10-2003, 08:30 PM whats the recommended shift rpm to save gas? If you shift at 2000rpm instead of 3000rpm, will it save more gas? Im curious because i shift at 3000rpm all the time and it seems to save a lot of gas. BullShifter 08-10-2003, 10:12 PM If you shift to low, then the engine has to work harder in the next gear = mor gas usuage. Its a 4-banger why are you worried about saving gas? Brit6 08-10-2003, 10:29 PM because i only get like 475km per tank. So what do you recommend shifting at then. BullShifter 08-10-2003, 10:47 PM whats 475KM in miles? Shift no higher than 4,000rpm for "normal street driving" Bounce of the rev-limter when racing! Brit6 08-10-2003, 11:12 PM 475km = 764miles. Ok so shift between 3000 and 4000rpm to get optimal gas milage, yeh when racing redline :D BullShifter 08-10-2003, 11:37 PM 764miles / 11.9 gallons = 64mpg - I dont think so. 475km / 9.9L = 48 lpkm CivicLeader 08-10-2003, 11:41 PM I'm pretty much the same as some of the posts above... Daily drive - I shift @ around 3500 RPM's... Street Race - I'm guessing around 6-7ooo RPM's... I try not to get crazy on the streets...I know while on the track/strip... I shift around an est. 7000 RPM...what ever red line is...sorry to not know the exact number but it's late... CL cnycivic 08-10-2003, 11:54 PM ummm brit6 ... km are smaller than miles ... so there is no way to do that conversion ... 475 km is about 280 or so miles and on my jdm tach i shift at 9k ... boosted331 08-11-2003, 12:06 AM Originally posted by Brit6 475km = 764miles. When i'm driving to work or just in traffic or on the highway or what not I usually shift at around 3 grand, but my hondata shift light is set at 9300 RPM's :iceslolan Brit6 08-11-2003, 04:51 PM whoops, heh, i dont use miles very much :P yeh so u think 475km per tank is not bad or it should be higher, im using premium gas 91 oct. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
