What is (are) the best thing(s) I could do to a 2000 Civic LX to make it's performance better, and it's appearance better. Thanks guys.

Lowering springs and sport shocks. Maybe an intake if you have money leftover.

Nitrous is cool but it has lots of hidden costs associated with it. You will usually have to upgrade your fuel system with air/fuel meters, better lines, high flow pump, etc, and upgrade your engine managment system CPU, and upgrade your manifold to withstand the higher combustion stresses. Not to mention refilling your nitrous tank all the time. Plus, nitrous is a mod that doesn't work all the time, only on rare occasions when drag racing. Other mods will improve your car's performance during all driving situations. Increase your acceleration and handling for all modes of driving will give more lasting satisfaction than having an extra 50-100 hp for only a few brief seconds.

Screw nitrous, it's so not worth it unless you have a drag-only car. Get a $105-shipped short ram AEM intake off 2Kracing.com, a new $500-$600 exhaust (they're all the same, get what looks best to you), and a $80-$100 short shifter. I drove my friend's Integra w/out a short shifter and it was horrible. After having one now, I could never drive without it.

why spend 100 on an intake when you could spend maybe 40 for one off ebay or something.....they are all the same...exaust is where you get what you pay for, and short shifter is purely feel it does nothing for performance, i still say drop it no matter what

He could do that too, but personally I like car parts like I like my women, fresh and unused.

Can I have a direct link to the part? Not just to the site? Thanks so much.

Damn want me to buy it for you while I'm at it?

From this link you can go to exhausts or intakes:
http://www.2kracing.com/civic.html

They only sell crappy mufflers from the looks of it. Buy an intake on this site and look elsewhere for an exhaust.

Ok, thanks. I'll look elsewhere real quick for exhaust. What else besides that. I kinda want some of those side lights, where can I get those??

ummmmmm what are you talking about?
Go buy an NX WOT kit........strap it up, flip a switch and wallllaaaa, u have 50hp. He doesn't need fuel/ECU for a small shot. And a 10lb. bottle will last him a good minute. Second off, he is making his car alot faster for alot cheaper........he is adding 50hp but for the most part keeping his stock gas mileag except when he sprays. And he could spray merging onto the highway if that is how he got kicks, why would u need your car faster except when racing unless your some troll that dips through traffic everywhere u go

Because I've had it before. I'd rather have a car that's always fast rather than "renting" horsepower. Once the bottle's gone what are you left with? A dumb slow car and you gotta go refill the damn thing again for $30-$45. If you have a huge refill tank at home for free, then it might be worth it. Also, no matter how safe you think nitrous is, it's still slowly but surely eating away at your engine because it's an oxidizer. Spray at too low of an rpm, and you could blow your intake manifold. Spray too high beyond fuel cutoff, and you lean the engine out, blowing the rings/bending a rod/cracking a cylinder head/blowing the headgasket etc... I spent over $1000 in n2o refills and looking back that could have paid for some of my B16B for permenant horsepower. Not that it really ever mattered to me but there's also the not-street-legal thing... Too many risks with nitrous without the down-the-road payoff. It does hold the cheapest cost/hp ratio, but for what... a whole 60 seconds of solid spray time? whee.

its called racing for money.....you should try it sometime, hustle, make money with that nitrous

Ricochet :iagree:

But to each his own I suppose. If you want to spend your money on short but intense bursts of speed then I suppose thats up to you. I'd rather improve my car for performance that I can use whenever I want with abandon.

Yeah dude just like fast and the furious right?
By the looks of your car I wouldn't take "hustling" advice from you.

ok so say im sprayin a 65 shot, here comes this mustang gt with exaust that thinks hes bad as shyt, we get a stoplight i spray on him and spank him and make him look like a jackass for being so confident less than 14 seconds of spraying

same thing could happen if it was for money, say you were racing for 150 bucks, you win the race and take home 300 spend 50 to get your tank filled so you made 100$ profit.....takes money to make money..nitrous is an easy way to win and earn money..cant argue with it

I don't bet money on illegal street racing, but I guess you have a point if you're into that type of thing. The only problem is when you're out of juice and a stang pulls up next to you, it really sucks not having any left. That's my point in a nutshell.

That is what is great about an "opinion", everybody can have their own and it is okay. Until some jackass in the middle east decides to have the opinion to kill lots of people...anyways, I prefer to go with the intake and exhaust, over the N20.

Would I be able to put a flowmaster on the Civic? Even though it's Japanese? If not, what could I put on there, to make it sound good? Is there a set of pipes that would make it sound good? Thanks.

They make Flowmasters for Civics, but make sure you get the whole cat-back exhaust rather than just a crummy muffler or it will sound like ass.

I was talking to my friend, and he said I should try and get a Camaro, or a Trans Am. I like them both very much, and I think I could afford one. Would that be better than a souped up Civic? I mean, they both have stock v8s, and are made to be fast. Don't flame me if this is a stupid question. Thanks.

Ricochet

That's not a stupid question at all. If you can afford a stock fast car then go for it. Personally I think it's more respectable to have a 127hp hill modded into a 200hp+ mountain and be able to keep up with the faster cars, but that's coming from a regular guy like me who only makes about 30k a year and modding Civics is all I can do. If I could afford a fast car off the line I'd do it.
