Transmission Swap from Auto to the beloved ManualGreat2c4me 07-27-2003, 03:17 AM I have a `94 civic EX coupe AT- I hate the auto trans... I hate it I hate it I hate it! I had a 01 and had to get rid of it because ins. was $$$$, like woh'. it was MT, and I loved that car! I bought this car so that the wifey could drive it if she needed too. I would consider myself to be very mechanicly inclinded. I want, I mean I need to take and chuck that AT. everyone tells me that it'd be a big job, well no crap! but what's big, what do they mean? Ive thought about it and I think that Ive thought it all the way through. I figure, with my brothers help, and his conv. garage/shop, we could have it done in a weekend. I am now searching for a tranny, but what else do I need? obviously the pedal swap, mounting the master cyl. on the fire wall with H lines, the center console replacement, I dont know a thing about the shifting assembly! and after all that, I suppose that I'd need to replace to control panel, inner dash plate.... can you guys help me out here? what I was thinking was just go to the auction with my lic. buddy and by a wrecked to totalled civic coupe... what year could I get to make the job quicker and easier? A-1Performance 07-27-2003, 07:41 PM Have you ever thought of selling your Civic EX first and then buying a manual. I mean, that could save you alotta money and work altogether. Great2c4me 07-28-2003, 06:44 PM ya, Ive definitely thought about it, but this is what I figure... a manual transmission is just to fun to drive, and talking about a 10 yr old car with over 100k miles on it, you can bet that it's been ripped on more than a few times. as for this car that I just bought, that motor is clean and strong and I bet will last another 100k... which it's at 114k right now. please, correct me if im wrong, but I dont think any AT is harder on any motor, perticularly speaking of a`94 civic. now that's another one of my Q's... are automatic transmissions harder on motors? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
