B16a to B16b?hockeycivic99 07-26-2003, 01:01 PM Hi everyone. Im new to this forum and after browsing looks like the best one i have seen. Anyways im saving up for a 99-00 si, but really like the power numbers of the type-r b16b with 184 hp. i know the si comes with a b16a with 160 hp. My question is what is the difference between the motors? Besides the big 3 basic bolt ons (intake, headers, exhaust) what can i do to bump the power of my future b16a to those numbers? Or is there certain parts u can buy to turn your b16a into a b16b? Any replies would be greatly appreciated. sweetcarz.com 07-26-2003, 02:01 PM the difference is the $2,000 price difference. 94civic 07-27-2003, 03:53 PM also the b16b has more aggressive cams, higher compression, higher redline, better flowing head and maybe some other stuff that i forgot to add. what you can do to get numbers like the b16b in your b16a is you can get b16b pistons, b16b cams, type r intake manifold,b16b throttle body port and polish the head, 1 layer head gasket, bolt ons like i/h/e and a engine management system like hondata to tune it. this will probably give you more than the b16b's 184 hp at the flywheel. hockeycivic99 07-27-2003, 06:38 PM  thanks for the help:cool: vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
