Engine replacementDayze7777 07-26-2003, 10:42 AM Hi, I am looking for some info on replacing an engine in a 95 Plymouth Neon. I am being told that the 95 will only accept another 95 engine. Does anyone know if this is an absolute? What is in that engine compartment or on that engine that requires the exact same year? Is there any modification or other replacement part (like different motor mounts that could be substituted to make it work? Thanks. Polygon 07-26-2003, 01:57 PM I am betting that it might be the only engine that will drop right in and bolt to the exsisting mounts. I somehow find that hard to belive though. In all honesty though you can make just about any engine fit, it is always a matter of time and money and how much you have of both. What engine do you want to drop in? KatWoman 07-29-2003, 04:50 PM I put a 98 in my 97, the only problem we ran into was that some of the connections on my wiring harness didn't match up with some of the new sensors....after a few splicings that little problem was taken care of :D joedirt76 07-29-2003, 08:59 PM I think going with a '95 engine is the best plan of action...it wont be very hard to find a '95 in a junkyard somewhere... AMDGamer 08-02-2003, 11:08 PM The only reason I can think of that only a 95 will fit is because you have a SOHC. If you have the DOHC then you can put any engine in there, it doesnt have to be out of a 95. Scatch! 08-04-2003, 04:21 AM The engine itself will bolt right in, but there are a few differences: PCV, the way the ignition coil bolts on top (due to a different cam cover), oil sender, the ignition coil plug, the injectors (vs. '97+), the PCM... I think that's about it for the SOHC. I know the injectors, PCM, and coil plug are different on DOHC vs. later years. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
