i was wondering how fast is an 89 -90 taurus sho like 1\4 o to 60 theres one for 900$ but needs a clutch are they any fast and how many horses do they have please response remember its an sho.

All the first generation SHO's are really fast. That one will have 220 hp, and 200 torque, 0-60 in about 6 1/2, quarter mile in the high 14's to low 15's. They have a Yamaha built engine that is incredible. It can rev to 12,000 rpms, but I wouldn't recommend trying it in such an old car. SHO's are incredible sleepers. If you like eating Civics and 5.0 Mustangs and the like, it will do it stock.

You do know a SHO clutch job will run you about $700 min. Also if you plan on doing it yourself i will pray for you!

Ya, I wouldn't recommend the SHO unless you have a fondness of wrenching on cars, or have deeeeep pockets. For more info on the SHO look into the sites in my sig. $900 for a SHO in reasonable condition is not bad. If it were me, I would buy it, deside if I should fix it up or part it out. If the person selling the car will admit to it needing a clutch, I would also think that the car has not recieved much of its required maintenence. The SHO is not meant for the strip, but it is a blast on the highway and road course. Good luck.

The clutch is one of your lesser problems. See when the last time it had it's Valve Lashings adjusted. That's a required maintainence that will likely run you about $500 pure labor. It must be done every 60,000 miles, or your repair bills will far exceed the cost of putting a clutch in. The clutches seldom wear out, the pressure plate usually shatters before that happens. They are usually a very nice car, inside and out, for the money, but they are a car that it helps if you are mechanically inclined.

$900 sounds like a good deal. If you can find a machanic that will do it on the side, the clutch job might not be too bad. I had mine done and it cost me $300(http://www.shonutperformance.com/ may have it cheaper) for the clutch kit & $160 labor, but that was through someone that worked out of their home. I have a 90 that I got with 217K on it and it now has 231K , original motor & trans. I've had to replace the clutch, altenator & some other minor things. Just remember that anything that needs to be replaced reguarding the motor, will most likely cost twice as much as a normal Taurus. As far as I can tell, the 60K has never been done to it and it runs pretty good. It ran low 16's in the 1/4 mile.

They are actually good cars... (for a Ford...) And usually run a long time. More so than being drag racing cars, they are just fun daily drivers with surprising gas milage (mine gets about 30).

key word is "maintenance", which a lot of people neglect on the shos, especially the previous owners, not all of them though.
