Project: Lightning~!! not my usual buildMean_B16 07-17-2003, 05:17 PM This is one I have on the table right now, I received it for free since my friend had no where to store it and wanted it built nice. I have not built a truck in years and this is where I first started learning how to lower and customize models. The truck is riding on 22s pulled from a side winder truck kit, the color will be Testors lime gold and I am trying to decide at the moment how custom the body will actually be. I am almost done with everything but the outside so i have to decide quick what I want to do to the body, any suggestions??? I don't really know this truck that well so I have no idea yet what to do. I am trying a new upload tecnique so I hope this works!>? Mean_B16 07-17-2003, 05:18 PM Ahhh CRAP! I am not doing that anymore!! I did not think It would be that big!! sorry, I will post more pics once I burn them on CD. Should be in a few days or so. Modgod 07-17-2003, 10:44 PM Im making the same kit what rims are those?? fullbloodchop01 07-17-2003, 11:19 PM umm, i think he said they were off a sidewinder truck:rolleyes: i guess this is reall different for u huh, i bet it will still be as great as ur others:bigthumb: Modgod 07-17-2003, 11:41 PM yah I jusst look sorry TheSyndicate 07-17-2003, 11:42 PM WOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! I'm going to be following this project, quite impatiently too. jeffsgotaciv98 07-18-2003, 10:59 AM IMO i think you should cut out that fake front grill...and those rims look sweet on that truck. Mean_B16 07-18-2003, 11:19 AM Originally posted by jeffsgotaciv98 IMO i think you should cut out that fake front grill...and those rims look sweet on that truck. The grille will come out before I paint the truck, I also love the wheels on this truck. I used some tires off some other random wheels I had because they stretch so nicely around the wheels and look so good (the original tires are plastic with molded in flames and look very:gay:) I am not sure yet what color I will choose for the wheels since I am not a fan of the chrome, more progress will happen this weekend though and I will have more pics posted by next week. Thor302 07-18-2003, 08:39 PM i like it!!:bigthumb: Mean_B16 07-19-2003, 03:24 PM Here is a teaser of the Chassis, this is the same color the body will be but I have not yet been inspired as far as customizing the body. I may just leave it stock but that is hard for me to do. I just found a way to upload w/o burning a CD so here goes! http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/306350000_0016.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/909288000_0015.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/757425000_0014.JPG I will have more progress on this soon but I may not post until I have some body work done. Does anybody know off any body kits I can use for reference or inspiration on this truck???? Modgod 07-19-2003, 05:27 PM Can you tell me how you lowered this kit?? Midnight Racer 07-19-2003, 05:34 PM Can't wait to see the colour on the body.Great progress.:bigthumb: Bong_the_Monkey 07-19-2003, 05:59 PM That looks amazing!! Some ideas for customizing the body would be to chop the top, giving it a sleeker looker, you could rehinge the tailgate and/or hood. I may add a nice scoop or something to it though. Mean_B16 07-21-2003, 09:38 AM Originally posted by Modgod Can you tell me how you lowered this kit?? This is one of the easiet kits to lower (as most trucks are), I may post pics later to avaid such a long post on how I did it, pics would save a whole lot of explaning. Basically I just relocated the front spindles higher and I cut the rear leaf springs. Modgod 07-21-2003, 01:18 PM Originally posted by MugenCRXSi why is your s.n Mod God? It is pretty much finished except for the CF hood, this one has just been chillin on the shelf as I messed the CF hood up twice last season! So I lost motivation for a while but once it warms up more here I will redo it and blast it with clear coat. Hope you guys likey! http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/59032Lightning_006-med.jpg Note the blower replacing the factory supercharger!! http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/59032Lightning_005-med.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/59032Lightning_003-med.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/59032Lightning_002-med.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=502/59032Lightning_001-med.jpg Once I have the time I may add pics that I shoot outside to really showoff the paint! hope these from my kitchen counter will do for now  Tommy Gunner 03-10-2004, 11:38 PM Thats friggin awesome man. The rims look killer with that paint jswillmon 03-10-2004, 11:45 PM Looks very sweet, I love the color. Never seen one that wasn't red, yellow, or blue. I have one on the shelf I'm thinking of painting green. In some of the earlier pics the front wheels look bigger than the back, Is that the case? ShOrtyOC714 03-11-2004, 12:59 AM Damn that is tight! BaNe 03-11-2004, 09:38 AM VERY VERY VERY VERY.......Cool! remus_nl 03-11-2004, 11:26 AM VERY VERY VERY VERY.......Cool! :iagree: very very cool!! aviv 03-11-2004, 11:36 AM awesome!! i dont have words! Bilson8tor 03-11-2004, 01:17 PM ditto labandabonnot 03-11-2004, 01:31 PM Great! That's something really impressive! flying finn 03-11-2004, 02:37 PM WOW! This is the best lightning I´ve ever seen! I have one suggestion though: leave the hood flat black. I think it looks cool that way and it goes nicely together with the rims and other black thingys. And BTW are you going to ad any mesh to those front openings? Mean_B16 03-11-2004, 09:13 PM Looks very sweet, I love the color. Never seen one that wasn't red, yellow, or blue. I have one on the shelf I'm thinking of painting green. In some of the earlier pics the front wheels look bigger than the back, Is that the case? The front and rear wheels are actually the same diameter, the only difference is I have wider tires on the rear making it look more staggered. I guess the earlier pics were just an optical illusion?? Thanks alot, I may add mesh later but as usual once I have the model done enough to get the idea of how it looks I usually leave alone for awhile as I get interested in new projects. I will probably come back to it one day when I am bored  Toyotagt1 03-11-2004, 09:20 PM           so great SonyMobile 03-11-2004, 09:23 PM That is realllly nice..Im loving it, the color, the rims...everything, its all great, I deffinatly need to pick up another lightning kit, my last one was a dissaster. tonioseven 03-12-2004, 09:33 AM It's killer!!:sunglasse Zcaithaca 03-12-2004, 09:45 AM Fantazilliant!!!!!! 675datsun 03-12-2004, 12:15 PM Sweet!!
