It's got a ZR1 V8, C4 Interior and deep dish Autodrags with Formula One tires  It's my 1955 Chevy 2 door!

Wierd I know but it looks alright  The light gun metal is an undercoat, the final product will be dark red mica with light gun metal accents with a tan/black interior combo. The engine will be wired but the engine bay is going to be clean, the deep dish wheels where made with assistance from Truck wheels. I hope it turns out nice & I hope you like it!

Thanks, at least two people like it. It gets to me that not many people appreciate classic cars and old muscle cars. If anyone hasn't picked it u pyet I broke the corners on the bonnet
Not happy but I'm trying to find a way to fix that, any ideas?

Make that three, although my knowledge of classic car limits itself mostly to European classics, I can surely appreciate this one.

As for the fixing of the bonnet, try to make a "frame around it, like re-making the outer edges with very thin and brittle styrene, and fill the remaining space with putty, and voila...

Sorry if it's not that understandable, but keep it up!

Thanks Malcolm and yes it is the 55 Street rod with the clear scoop. The engine in it looks like a hunk of horse shit though!

I sprayed the red on today and I repainted the wheels and other silver bits. The back lights are done and the headlights were done also. Here's some pictures of the body and wheels, none of the interior or engine yet. Half the engine was wirted with blue wire I got out a a spare stereo I had, works better then that Model masters spark wire! I hate that stuff, this wire is so flexible and glues faster. The injection manifold was painted the body colour then touched up in silver. Sorry for the long post. More update pictures tomorrow

Well good to see it's hard to keep up with this thread. New pictures of the engine in place but not finished, this is where it will be positioned when I finish the model. And yes the air cleaner doess fit under the bonnet when closed  . Also some pictures of the stance that has been finalised I just need the front `56 Nomad bumper to decide wether it's low or too low. There will mostlikely be another update tonight, body will recieve finishing touches then the interior fitment marathon will begin

Question, did you rehash the front suspension in that kit to put it back to being independent coil spring or did you just flatten out the ridiculous tube axle and leaf springs?

It does look great, though, and I seriously like the LT-5 transplant. :bigthumb:

Thanks for the replies and kind words!

Octagon - There was no way I was touching that truck suspension so I got the front suspension part that came spare with my El Camino and then cut and glued it flush to the frame. the engine sits up on some cut engine bay bits from the Tamiya Ferrari 360 Modena. The diff is out of the El Camino too, although I won't be showing the undercarriage, it's too embarrasing. No actual suspension parts and no brakes, also the driveshaft won't connect to the raised 6 speed on the Corvette engine

Good to see so many people respect/like this car! Well thankyou to the people who do because your the only ones making me post these progress reports (which I am enjoying) here. I just thought I'd share two pictures of the chrome trim done on the car. This thing used a shitload of masking tape

Thanks, cool a fellow Aussie! Without a doubt you've seen or read about Rod Hadfields 'Final Objective'? That was the car I was thinking of doing but I realised there's no way to do that paint job he has. You can't appreciate a true Street machine until you have seen that thing in person :eek2: Pity he is selling it to some guy in the USA ( :frown: ) after he tours Australia with it.

two tone paint job looks great
the 55 is a lot nicer than the 57 ,must have been a bit of work in lowering it though .looking foward to seeing it finished
i cant think of one classic european muscle car that was affordable to the average working person ,sure they had there exotic cars but you cant really modify them ,maybee
thats why they seem to be mostly interested in tunners

Here's a couple of pictures of the body with lights glass and chrome done. A picture of the half done interior and a picture of the recent damage  . I was superglueing the grille on but the superglue ran out onto the body, I did my best to save it but now I will have to repaint that area, which will be a pain to mask all that stuff off and keep the paint thin so it isn't uneven. Any ideas to fix it are greatly welcomed and appreciated! I knew I wouldn't be able to get through this without something bad happening.

I think it looks great!

Hey man....don't sweat it, sorry about your paint. Oh yeah, to the point, you said the driveshaft doesnt fit from therear end to the tranny? Well cut the universal joints off the driveshaft you have and cut a piece of tree to fit but make it like shorter by a cm or a cm and half and glue the universals onto each end and then paint it and it should work greatly. As for brakes, but really :gives:? I've posted car pics without brakes no one seems to care. Maybe if you post up a pick of the underchassis I can give some advice of how to clean it up and make it look good. But it's up to you. Nice build, keep up great work

Thanks for the replies!

And 454SS, about the driveshaft or brakes really, people don't see the undercarriage anyway, I'm just going to have some shiny exhaust going through there, thats about all. The diff is too short to reach the rear wheels but i don't give a shit honestly. Saves time and effort if you don't do all that crap anyway :iceslolan

This will be the last update on the `55 for a few days, I'm going to finish the Camaro. I need to get it done by the end of the week. I just thought I'd show a quick picture of the now 75% fixed Damage.

Sorry it's all I got. I'll be posting an update on the `55 soon though when I finish the interior.

You're fixing it very nicely so far!

So how are the wheels connected, glued to the well?

Thanks Malcolm, it's only a simple job but I hope it doesn't go wrong, just to top off that corner of the body with everything that has gone wrong

The wheels aren't currently connected but the front wheels will be glued onto the proper suspension but the back ones will probably just be jammed in, they don't budge when I just shove them up in those guards, needs to be tubbed :bloated:

hey nice work its lookin real good. i am working on a 55 myself , i have a lot of work to do yet it is my dads model but i am finishing it since he stoped building it about 30 years ago now he is 54 and doesnt do models anymore i am 14 so i am finishing all the models he never finished but anyways about the 55, he had it lookin like the old gaser style and the back wheel wells were cut out so i had an old 64 chevy parts body that i have been waiting to use so i got the back wheel well s of of that and i put them to the 55 and now the chassis dont fit cuz the wheels are too wide so i have to shorten the metal axel and yes its a metal rod real old school car lol. so if that dont work i have no clue wut ima do and the roof was broken off so i cut off all the posts and smooth everything out and wut i'm goin to do is just put a window in without posts which i think will look neat but i hafta find a wintshield to fit the car since i dont have a lot of parts for it i dont have the front splah pan nor the back pan so it's probably gonna be in black primer as an old junker so idk yet wut i'm really goin to do if u have anyideas let me know also look on the first page and look at my 49 mercury and 50 ford convertible.

Hey man, that '55 is looking sweet. You did it justice by adding the late model engine, hey and the damage just gives it character!! Love American iron and the good ol' muscle cars!!!!!!

Ouch this is old, the `55 is still in a box with no future plans to it as yet. My amte wants to turn it into a drag car though so we will see what happens.
Guess it is hard to know what'll happen to it because its got such a crappy interior and undercarriage.
