Real Astra Street Carchrismcgee 07-15-2003, 06:08 PM well i have seen loads of "street" astras that are just astras without the decals. i am having a go at turning mine into something you could actualy expect to see out there. so far i have ditched the side exit exhausts(never be road legal), smoothed off the horrible opel grill, re molded the front fender, smoothed the rear tailgate, added the vents from an sas cwest hood. sprayed it all with ford paris blue which i love to bits and might spray my real motorbike in! oh yeah, it took ages to get that hood looking right, 2000 grit paper was used to get the surface just right chrismcgee 07-15-2003, 06:09 PM btw the wheels are just temporaryly placed for the photo chrismcgee 07-15-2003, 06:10 PM and another photo, this is gonna be a slow progress kit i think chrismcgee 07-15-2003, 06:12 PM also i think my amt fast n furious supra might be donating its seats and nos tanks so i can have two seats not just the one! or i will just put the nos tanks there instead, whadda ya think chrismcgee 07-15-2003, 06:20 PM i am going to be relocating the exhausts to the rear of the car, in the diffuser ports, 2x twin can in each, unless one 5" exhaust in each would be better Mainomega 07-15-2003, 06:40 PM Nice. I too was getting tired of people calling their Astra a "street" version only because it had no decals. Keep posting on your progress. Midnight Racer 07-15-2003, 06:43 PM Looks great.Love the colour.Keep us posted. flyonthewall 07-15-2003, 07:21 PM Its great! Easily one of your better pieces:wink: BaNe 07-15-2003, 07:25 PM looks great! :bigthumb: but why do you say that side exit exhaust will never be legal? Ford lightnings have side exit exhaust for exampel other cars also. JDM Wagon 07-15-2003, 08:43 PM that looks real nice. it will deffinately look good once your finished. i was going to say the same about the legality of the exhaust then noticed you were from europe and figured your laws don't allow it. anyhow this will look great once your finished. :bigthumb: Hiroboy 07-16-2003, 02:09 AM Hummmmmmmm Not sure yet chrismcgee 07-16-2003, 03:44 AM i am going to be using some decals that Ales kindly sent on this one, just keeping them subtle tho. there is a bit more detailing to do on the exterior tho. so its not completely finished yet. still working out how i am going to tackle the interior, keep thinking about going completely custon on the inside, rebuild the whole thing as a custom interior like when pioneer show cars etc. cheers for the comments, there is more i wanted to do to the car but just didnt have the time Slipknot 07-16-2003, 04:10 AM i need one of those kits.:bigthumb: chrismcgee 07-16-2003, 06:36 AM all i can say is go get one, they are a great kit, just screaming for a transkit! but beware the doors they are very brittle and need care, but over all i wanna see some turned into mental, non race kits! exhaust smoke 07-16-2003, 06:58 AM Looking good. christofurr 07-16-2003, 07:09 AM Originally posted by huudo Never be road legal in Europe that is. Not a favourite of the Astra, but is certainly a different aproach, and I like it. Are you sure it's illegal in Europe? Afterall, the new Mercedes McLaren SLR has side exhausts, and I don't think Mercedes or McLaren would have put them there if they wern't legal in their key markets. christofurr 07-16-2003, 07:10 AM ... chrismcgee 07-16-2003, 07:33 AM im not sure now, i just thought it has something to do with blowing fumes directly into the people om the pavement or something, i could be proved wrong. i think they look nice but every one else has em so i got rid of mine nervestrikes 07-16-2003, 09:21 AM I can't wait to see it finished, the color is raw let alone the hood effects.
