In progress - Tamiya Skyline R34 V-Spec IIFocus2000 07-15-2003, 12:18 PM First bit of decent progress I've made in months. It's a Tamiya kit painted in Ford Silica Gold. It's a box-stock build, nothing fancy. On overhead shot, give's an idea of the colour. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/889670Skyline2.jpg A close-up of the underneath of the car. I decided to put some BMF on for the heat-shielding, gives a better shine than the X-11 indicated in the instructions. I also gave the exhaust a blackwash to pick out the detail. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/704100Skyline3.jpg Here's a shot of the fantastic 2nd set of wheels that come with this kit, and my attempt at a Nismo logo  http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/290773Skyline1.jpg ...and a close-up of those wheels. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/237003Skyline4.jpg I've yet to start on the interior, and the front, rear and sideskirts are currently waiting for their clearcoat to dry. The spoiler may have some CF decals, and I'm wondering about doing some on parts of the dash. I'll see how it goes. MR-2RaCeR 07-15-2003, 12:23 PM Great job so far!:bigthumb: bah humbug 07-15-2003, 12:34 PM I should've picked the V-spec 2 instead of the V-spec. Camber 07-15-2003, 12:51 PM Wow, Another gold R34. There's still the wing to build, and a few little bits left to attach. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/846480Skyline1.jpg This second shot shows off the paint job, the best shine I've managed so far  http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/564767Skyline2.jpg DarkTemptation3 07-23-2003, 10:39 AM Very Nice... like the color although its a bit too much gold for me:biggrin: Looks good though..... Keep it up! :bigthumb: Focus2000 07-23-2003, 12:22 PM Originally posted by DarkTemptation3 Very Nice... like the color although its a bit too much gold for me:biggrin: Looks good though..... As requested ... http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/932073Skyline3.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/794449Skyline4.jpg All non-black areas are hand painted, which accounts for the crazy drunken lines. Another body pic, from behind. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/421853Skyline5.jpg That's all for now, folks  Phreak 07-23-2003, 12:43 PM Smooth as silk :bigthumb: I wanna see it with the wing on  Midnight Racer 07-23-2003, 01:03 PM Love the colour's.Can't wait to see it done.:bigthumb: DarkTemptation3 07-23-2003, 08:12 PM Very nice work on the interior...:D Looks good dieselpowa 07-23-2003, 09:52 PM Great build so far... I am building one of these babies myself ! Mine is gonna be gold too...but I was thinking of flat blue seats w/ a grey and black interior.... think that will look good?? awesome car anyways! dieselpowa 07-23-2003, 09:54 PM O yeh..another thought... is the underbelly of all Skylines the same color as the body? I was thumbing through a car magazine talking about Skylines...and there were a couple of pics taken of their underside. and all I see is black/dark grey....never the body color! hobbes874 07-23-2003, 10:55 PM Originally posted by dieselpowa O yeh..another thought... is the underbelly of all Skylines the same color as the body? Uhhhh what's the purpose of painting the bottom when no one but the ground will see it . The bottom is going to have shit throw at it when your driving, that's why it doesn't have to be fancy. It is odd, but that's how Tamiya call off the colours for the chassis. They usually have some body colour in their street-car kits, but I've often wondered how accurate it really is  Phreak - the wing is the main bit left to be done. I'm waiting for some CF decals and then it'll be built. primera man 07-24-2003, 05:00 AM Good minds must think alike....i started this kit today as i wait for my Camaro to dry.
