In progress: Revell HB Turbo w/ NOS!!Mean_B16 07-15-2003, 11:17 AM Here is the progress of my HB I have been working on, it seems to be going together better than my freekin' coupe anyway. I am building this turbo utilizing what I learned on project Del Sol type R Turbo, I am going more detailed this time as well. I am going for the JDM look with a little american "flare" of my own, hope you like. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/900617000_0007.jpg The motor is more complete now than this pic shows, more will come soon! http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/562414000_0009.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/669675000_0049.jpg a little crooked but this is not yet glued in place. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/547360000_0012.jpg here you can see the HUGE color matched NOS bottle. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/249572000_0008.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/871981000_0010.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/169476000_0050.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/186109000_0051.jpg This really shows off the V-tec controller, DVD/Computer screen, and handpainted scratchbuilt gauges. a monster tach is also awaiting install No pics of the body yet as it is just wearing the optional side skirts and rear apron right now and it's all primered. I have to wait until the rest of the car is together so I can make an entirely custom front end to fit over the very thick intercooler. The factory bumper is WAY off. The turbo got all plumed up last night so I will take pics soon, I even made an impressive HKS style blow off valve that you guys will love!!! supratuner 07-15-2003, 11:22 AM WOW looks good! Towelboy80 07-15-2003, 12:01 PM Good job in the interior, the gauges are well built. :bigthumb: bah humbug 07-15-2003, 12:16 PM Looks good, but the bottle is HUGE! MR-2RaCeR 07-15-2003, 12:19 PM Damn! Looks good so far!:bigthumb: Mean_B16 07-15-2003, 12:45 PM Originally posted by bah humbug Looks good, but the bottle is HUGE! Yes it is HUGE, but that is for the HUGE shot it would recieve (in the real world of corse) I have seen bottles bigger than this in real life, the more NOS, the better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well not all the time, there is a high possibilty of blowing ur motor or something else. But so far ur car looks nice!!!!!!:iceslolan Mean_B16 07-15-2003, 01:10 PM Originally posted by Shorty4859 Well not all the time, there is a high possibilty of blowing ur motor or something else. But so far ur car looks nice!!!!!!:iceslolan Only if you hook it up worng to the motor and if your motor is not built for it! Trust me, if you build the motor right you can run one hell of a shot of NOS, it's all about the TUNING!!!!!!! CamaroSSBoy346 07-15-2003, 02:05 PM How did you make those gauges on the passenger side? bigfrit 07-15-2003, 02:10 PM Not much of a fan of these kind of cars, but yours is definaltely one of the better build specimens. Keep it up! Olivier Midnight Racer 07-15-2003, 02:54 PM Another great project. Can't wait to see more progress.:bigthumb: fullbloodchop01 07-15-2003, 03:45 PM Originally posted by Midnight Racer Another great project. Can't wait to see more progress.:bigthumb: :iagree: Mean_B16 07-15-2003, 05:02 PM Originally posted by CamaroSSBoy346 How did you make those gauges on the passenger side? YJGWRacing 07-15-2003, 08:28 PM RICER!!!! You have a bottle, but no lines or solenoids :biggrin2: just messin. Lookin good. Mean_B16 07-16-2003, 10:53 AM Originally posted by YJGWRacing RICER!!!! It will all be there when I am done. TURBOSATURN 07-17-2003, 12:35 AM Just wondering, did you build the turbo? If so how did you make the wastegate. Oh ya :thefinger your a bastard, i'm working on a civic hatch thats turbo, and i was making an hks bov.:thefinger DarkTemptation3 07-17-2003, 12:52 AM LOL boys, boys, boys... , Very Nice, Love the detail... you don't offen hand paint do you? I do all my details... so I had to ask... Have any idea of a body color yet?? But looks great.. keep us posted... the nos!!! Slipknot 07-17-2003, 01:29 AM Mean_B16 you do know that N.O.S. is a company called Nitrous Oxide Systems Incorporated? N.O.S doesnt refur to Nitrous Oxide it's self. the reason I'm saying something is because it sounds like you think N.O.S means Nitrous Oxide. If you are making the tanks Nitrous Oxide Systems Incorporated tanks, better get a decal:bigthumb:oh yeah the civic is awesome so for:iceslolan Mean_B16 07-17-2003, 09:30 AM Thanks for the "technical" observation, but NOS is just the "coined" term of Nitrous now even if you are not runnning the COmpany NOS. I am aware of all this, My daily grind is running a performance shop and I sell NX kits (Nitrous Express). I just used the term loosly cause everybody knows what "NOS" is. If you ever go to shows, you will see a LOT of custom painted bottles, no lables. I just like it body colorerd cause it flows nicely. Thanks for the input though. To DarkTemptation3: The body color is the color of the engine bay, I just have to get some body work done on it. Mean_B16 07-17-2003, 11:43 AM Originally posted by TURBOSATURN Just wondering, did you build the turbo? If so how did you make the wastegate. Oh ya :thefinger your a bastard, i'm working on a civic hatch thats turbo, and i was making an hks bov.:thefinger I scratch built the turbo and waste gate, I just used picutres from import magazines and made the styrene to the desired shape. Thats cool that you are working on one also, post some pics so I can see. I should have more pics up soon, I am pretty much done plumbing the turbo now I just have to make the front bumper fit around the HUGE intercooler. Mean_B16 07-19-2003, 03:49 PM Back with more pics finally! there is a lot of test fitting on this car due to it's less than great fitment so the build is coming slowly but surely. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/999382000_0001.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/768057000_0003.JPG this pic just shows how much of the bumper had to be cut away to fit the HUGE intercooler! http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/653626000_0004.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/877582000_0005.JPG here you can see how I have to fit the bumper around the dump pipe http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/718315000_0012.JPG This shows a close up of the dump piper (on left) and the down pipe (on right) before installation http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/927265000_0006.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/825498000_0011.JPG You can see the monster tach in this pic http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/901314000_0007.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/234449000_0010.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/567882000_0019.JPG I am not sure how his bumper will look when I am done, I am just making it to fit around the intercooler first, then I will style it as it comes along. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/534227000_0020.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/621596000_0021.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/622422000_0022.JPG I wonder how this will turn out???? dutchboy 618 07-19-2003, 03:57 PM cool project but wat are those little pipes sticking out of the front bumber are those the exaust pipes???  Mean_B16 07-19-2003, 04:33 PM Originally posted by dutchboy 618 cool project but wat are those little pipes sticking out of the front bumber are those the exaust pipes???  Yes that is pretty much what it is, the "Dump pipe" comes off the waste gate but I made it exit this way because it is something I have never done and I like how it looks on the cars I have seen it on. stump 07-19-2003, 04:57 PM That's excellent Mean_B16, ,really like your motor detail:eek: Knowing your skills, the front will rock:ylsuper: cheers stump:aus: fullbloodchop01 07-19-2003, 05:00 PM ohh man, this thing is going to be a beast  :bigthumb: :bigthumb: :bigthumb: Midnight Racer 07-19-2003, 05:41 PM Amazing work as usual. Can't wait to see it done.:bigthumb: rmg313 07-19-2003, 08:42 PM :bigthumb: TheSyndicate 07-19-2003, 08:44 PM  :bigthumb: oblaise 07-19-2003, 10:15 PM That thing is awesome, keep up the good work. Mean_B16 07-21-2003, 06:50 PM Here is another shot of a little more progress. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/640016000_0052.JPG of course the intercooler is not striaght because it is just sitting there. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/537589000_0053.JPG Mean_B16 03-11-2004, 10:03 PM Well I am finally done with it (all though after the pics I realized I forgot the side view mirrors! :disappoin ) oh well here it is anyway.
