2000 lesabre limited keyless remote(s)

Anyone know much about programming 2000 lesabre "personal" remotes with a #1 and #2 on each of them. I am sure that the procedure is no different than other GM's with the same type of remotes, but I have never done this.
I have seen several general discussions about programming these types of remotes, but am worried about some type of "scan" unit required for this procedure. Does my car require this "scan" unit or can I jump across some terminals with some type of a lead? What terminals do I need to connect to? I sure don't want to fry anything!!!
