Tire CuppingJWB 07-11-2003, 08:47 AM Tires have been rotated on my Audi TT at 4000 and 8000 miles. After last rotation I noticed a significant noise at 20-25 mph. Took it back to dealership and found an alignment problem on rear left wheel. This was corrected but I still have a front left tire with cupping. WILL THIS EVENTUALLY CORRECT ITSELF OR SHOULD I BUY A NEW TIRE? dracer398 07-11-2003, 11:29 AM If there is enough tread left you may consider having the tire shaved. But the cupping will never be corrected by just driving it. Many tire dealers and alignment shops can shave the tire but it also decreases the life of that tire. Good luck! JWB 07-11-2003, 12:06 PM Tracer938 There appears to be sufficient rubber left but suspect that I will be putting out $180 for a new tire. Thanks for the help. Regards Cy@tirerack 07-11-2003, 05:54 PM Cupping will not correct itself. May be difficult finding someone to shave a used tire because of stones, etc in tire. Do you have 16" or 17" wheels? If you have 205/55-16 Michelin Pilot Primacy tires these are available at $118 delivered (approx). http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=DY2&url=/tires/tires.jsp&tireMake=Michelin&tireModel=Pilot+Primacy JWB 07-11-2003, 07:27 PM Wheel Man, thanks for the reply. The Michelin Pilot Sport that I am looking for is a 225/45ZR17. What is your price with shipping? Cy@tirerack 07-11-2003, 07:33 PM What's the zip code please? BTW is the TT a Quattro? JWB 07-12-2003, 07:27 AM The vehicle is a 02 Audi TT Quattro and my ZIP is 49686. Thanks Cy@tirerack 07-12-2003, 01:28 PM Delivered total is $192, if you order over the weekend expect delivery on Wednesday barring accounting issues. It's very important that you maintain the same overall diameter on the Quattro because the differentials get confused by having a tire of a different diameter so shaving is not a good choice on this car. cy@tirerack.com vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
