View Full Version : Favorite Vehicle in 1977 ONLY Favorite Vehicle in 1977 ONLY PWMAN 07-09-2003, 09:39 PM I think there was a lot of good cars in 77-78. I own a 77 Dodge Power Wagon, and a 77 Chrysler Newport. My brother has a 77 F250, and my best friend has a 77 Trans Am-I found that car for him, wish I would have had the money to buy it myself. It was a steal at 1200 Bucks, practically no rust at all, half decent paint, and runs great. It has a 400 4 BBL, and it's just as fast as my other friends 92 Z28 Camaro with a 350 TPI. I am a firm believer that cars in the late 70's were underated. My 77 Newport has a 440 thats rated at 235 HP, and the car weighs 2.5 tons. My friends Z28 Camaro is rated at 245 HP, weighs like a whole tone less and I can walk all over him. Oh he also have a few upgrades like 3'' flowmaster exhaust and some igntion stuff, KN filter. Anyway, cool cars from 77 only, tell me about em.:bigthumb: fordjay16 07-09-2003, 09:49 PM I'm a big fan of mustangs even though they were so slow i'd pick one of them. They only had three engines in 1977: a 140 cid Inline four rated at 89hp, a 171 cid V-6 rated at 93hp, and a 302-cid V-8 rated at 139hp. At least you didn't pic 1981 cause the most hp you could get in a stang was 115. tigermiata 07-10-2003, 08:11 AM Ahh, 1977. "I remember it well..." :iceslolan I went along with a friend who was car shopping. We hit all the dealerships, looked at just about anything sporty. He ended up buying a Saab 99EMS, the sportiest Saab that year (IIRC the Turbo came out shortly thereafter). But I was begging him to get, for about the came price (!), the TVR 2500M -- I don't think there were too many TVR dealers then but there was one nearby in what is now IIRC a laundromat. A nice car, handled well, beautiful -- if cramped -- interior, but he didn't like the "fit-n-finish" of the fiberglass body panels. Sigh. BTW, he kept the Saab maybe a year. Yeah, the TVR topped the list IMHO. I bought a VW Rabbit that spring, but I didn't want payments and I could pay cash for a new Rabbit. blazed on haze :\ 07-14-2003, 04:52 AM jaguar xjs v12 http://www.escuderia.com/08jagxjs.jpg i cant say i know much about it, all i know is that its looks stylish and awesome, its a 5.3L v12 and they r damn cheap these days. killasoundz 07-14-2003, 03:28 PM 1977 car of the year toyota celica liftback PWMAN 07-16-2003, 09:09 PM Originally posted by killasoundz 1977 car of the year toyota celica liftback My brother loves them, can you find me a pic?
