I am a total newbie and don't know much about cars nor about engines. I do, however, own a '91 240SX SE Hatchback that has over 220k miles. It had been running great up until last year when I started having problems that escalated from an oil leak due to some front oil seal gone bad to a warped head due to overheating to a bent valve. After it being in the hands of wrong mechanics (incompetent), it finally landed in the hands of a friend of mine who is a mechanic at a local Nissan Dealership. After his diagnosis I was given the recommendation to get a new/remanufactured engine. Instead, I've been considering the option of doing an S13 SR20DET engine swap. I am not into drag racing, but I would like the car to be turbocharged and be atleast faster than it is now (USA stock). In the opinion of any of you "Experts" out there, what would be my BEST option (least expensive, yet still effective); basically, the "best bang for its buck"? Thanks in advance!

WELCOME TO AF!!

well since you have no choice and have to change your motor. Heres what i think. Price wize they are gona cost bout the same give or take a hundred or two. The SR swap is gona be a hell of a head ache though if you dont know ppl. First of all its not gona take a day to get it installed and running. What are you gona drive meanwhile, Second where to find the dang engine. Its not a rare motor just everyone everywhere is selling one, and finding a place thats affordable, conviente, and reliable is the hard part. Most ppl will tell you to get an entire front clip, why because it comes with everything you will need for the install and more. :bigthumb: But what are you gona do with the fromt clip once its gutted, dump it in a park maby. So you gota find a place to throw it too.
Okay cost a front clip goes for around... what 2-3k + shiping, most Shops install with the clip $4-5k, you still need some extra stuff but your car will run. A new KA im guessing $500 bux+. Now you wana go Turbo right Realnissan.com has nice turbo kits for a resonable price. what $3.5-4k installed with everything you will need.

Its up to you buddy.

www.raretrick.com only provides parts, not engine choices and that, in no way, answers the question that was asked, which is why that post was removed. that can be translated as advertising, which isn't welcome in here.

also, you are free to use the smilies, but PLEASE stop using 10+ of them in each of your posts. a single smilie can help get a point across, but 10 or more will just start to piss people off.
